What is the typical price for mounting and balancing? I got mine coming finally. I called 3 places today and all were real close to $60 for the pair. Is it cheaper at the track, or basically the same?

I believe it was $10 each at the track last year, should be about the same this year. Comes down to whether you want the hasle there or at home.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

It's free at my house - Lemme know if you plan to be in the Ann Arbor area anytime soon.

Yeah, don't get me started, it is expensive. Typically much cheaper at the track, though. With some clubs, like NESBA (and most others, too), if you purchase the tires from them trackside, the mount and balance is free (and I'm assuming you need to purchase the brand that is their current sponsor, but that depends on region...at some regions you can buy any brand from them and qualify for the free mounting).
Otherwise, at the track if you've brought your own, I've seen $10 - $20 per wheel off the bike. Dealers by me want $40 per wheel off the bike. My local dealer has lowered it to $30/wheel.
I drove down to NJMP today to get a good deal on the DCIIIs from a major distributor. We got to talking, and he also gives an awesome deal on NoMar changers when you purchase tires. HG and I bought 3 sets today and we'll likely be getting a tire changer. End of problem, it'll pay for itself in a couple of years.

No kidding.. you have a machine at the house? Eventually I might have to take you up on that.

I figured at the track would be cheaper. The one dealer (the owner even) asked why I didn't buy the skins through him with a little bit of an attitude. I said because they are track tires and I can get them through my forum at almost half retail. Then the bastard hung up on me. I guess it’s no big deal to swap tires at the track or home. I'll have tools at the track so no big deal. I can just see where the cost factor could get big. For cryin’ out loud car tires aren't that expensive. I'll be riding with STT hopefully soon and they have Michelins. I used Mark at Uber racing this time and went with the Pirelli's. His prices are very good.

dude i will split one with you and u can use my garage anytime you want
As cheap as I am I'm always looking to split costs however one good tire going fast into t1 and one bald might not be the top secret combination. And I could fill up your garage.. and if not me, the wife could for sure (although my stuff is typically worth more AND a little nicer to look at )
EDIT: on second thought is there room for a bed out there? I'm sick of getting kicked by my 3 year old

Yeah.. I called him again the next day after we talked about it and he answered that time. He was at a track somewhere in Canada. Also FYI don't use the mark@getpirellis.com He's been having problems with that one so use mark@uber-racing.com Like Eyauch, he talked me into getting the Dragons.

What was the arguement for choosing the Dragons over the DCIIIs? Scottie actually convinced me the other way to go with the DCIIIs. I've seen them cheaper online but with the cost of getting them mounted they end up being more so I'm just gonna get whatever I get from him and get the free mounting.

From what I gather the sidewall compound is basically the same between the two. The Corsa III's have a stronger center strip compound and last a little longer for the street. Also the Corsa III's are better for wet with groves that go to the edge of the tire. Price wise they are very close. (at least with him) The Dragons will only be used on the track and in dry conditions. I never considered the dragons but after he asked me a few questions he told me to go with them. I was really considering the Dunlop 209s (for price) but I've heard from 3 that the carcass' are harder than the Pirelli’s and give less feedback where the Pirellis move around a bit and are easier to read. It’s a vortex question anyway you look at it, but we are going to try these for a few days.

Good choice...you can't go wrong with either tire.
I have both his email addy's, but always used the getpirellis.com without a problem. Thanks for the heads up...
The guy I got my DCIIIs from recommended them for me over the Dragons, since I still have stock suspension. He felt as you move up to DOT race tires, set-up becomes more of a factor. Although you don't need warmers with the Dragons, it's still recommended. I'd still like to try them at some point, but after I do suspension upgrades.
Agreed, can't go wrong with either tire! Plus he gave me a cool hat!

Like this?
He did tell me that between the stock suspension with the Diablo supercorsa's and eating up tires as well. The Dragons aren't DOT's are they? Aren't the Diablo Supercorsa's the DOT's?

I believe both are. Just the Diablo Supercorsas are the tippy top WSS spec tire.

Yup, same hat as you, Silver. The Dragon Supercorsa Pros are indeed a DOT race, they were going to be discontinued, but distributors convinced them to keep making them. They list them as DOT race tires at an economical price point. Yeah, the Supercorsas ore their top of the line DOT races.

I didn't know they were a DOT race tire. I guess I don't have an excuse in the tire area now. If I could only cough up the money for suspension upgrades. (it would be a loud cough )

Hey.. whatever works. I use to change MX tires with tire irons, but that sucked bad enough. I'm not thinking that would be that easy with these tires
