Sooo...what was the consensus on the 'Stone and the alternate AmericInn this year?

I think the consensus is that Bwhip had the best "alternate" solution

We liked the AmericInn a lot better than the 'Stone. Bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for. There is a nice breakfast buffet every morning...cereal, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, waffles, toast, bagels, muffins. Not much further to the track, either, about 2 miles. We'll be staying there again next year. There are grocery stores and restaurants nearby, too.

Thanks HGT, that's good to know. I'm hoping to make an Apex2Apex day later this summer and not real excited about staying at the 'Stone anymore. How is there parking lot for trailers?

Parking at AmericInn in Greenville is good for trailers. 24 hour Super WalMart across the street (but you cannot buy beer before 7am). Clean, quiet and nice pool and hot tub! Airconditioning was VERY efficient. The only problem with our room was the bathroom vent fan didn't work, but that was not a problem because my s@%t don't stink anyway.

You can make your own waffles at the breakfast nook as well! Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and jacuzzi in our room. Very comfortable and quiet. We'll be there next year too!

100% of Blue Sheep think Abtech is right (painful to admit) and the drive short. If not camp and save $$$

The AmericInn was pretty nice. I liked that the pool and hot tub area was open until midnight. The Super Wal-Mart across the street was pretty handy, too.
And it was all closer than the Hampton Inn we stayed at last year.

Like Maxib said, trailer parking is fine. If you have an SUV with a 6x12 or so, there are places in the front that you could pull through, and park across 2 spots, verically, within the lines. With the longer rig like we have, we parked a bit further from the door, horizontally across a few spaces. If that front lot happens to be full, there is a larger truck lot in the back of the hotel, which was empty when we were there. Only downside to that is that I didn't see a back door, so you'd have to walk around the building. No biggie, as we only have the trailer at the motel the last night of our stay.

Some of us can't just stay in fancy hotels, so we have to rough it by camping out under the stars and mosquitoes...

After the floor of the Stone in 02, abtech convinced me to rock the Radisson in 06, I went back in 07; definitely the choice for me.

I had one toilet flushing issue on Monday morning (I'll spare you the details) which was remedied by the time we returned. From my one stay there I dont see what all the complaints are about. I've had bigger issues in more expensive (allegedly higher class) hotels all across the country.

Certain amenities are good (I was a little jealous of the wally world proximity) but I learned from my first few track days that I am usually too tired to jump in a pool afterwards. That said, if I bring the family next year I will probably be at the Americinn so they can enjoy themselves a little more.

I'm not camping next year. I was afraid of the noises coming out of the Canadian's trailer.

The Radisson has a pool, hottub and SUANA. Camping saves $$$ and is great because the nighttime visiting goes on longer... but excessive heat.... it will be tough to go back to camping

There wasn't a heat issue this year. All three nights were very cool.
