Does anyone have a connection with a company that does plaques?

I just spoke with Sam at Grattan, and he's amenable to us putting up a memorial plaque for Richard on the tech shed.

Is it possible to get one that has a photo or an engraving of him on the bike?

I have seen a bunch of plaques with etched photos on them. I don't have any specific connections with people who do them, though.

I'll take a look and see what I can come up with in this area.

Hammer made contact with his company in Indiana, and they're excited to be involved. Apparently, they can do etchings or 3-D embossed images, and things of that nature...

Chris or anybody with graphic talents, can you please do a basic layout of an 8"x10" plaque? I'm thinking of one with a picture of Rich at speed on the F4 on top and a simple legend underneath:

Richard A Herald
1952-2007
Beloved Father and Husband
Great Friend and Rider
Godspeed #20

If we can get that into a .pdf ,we can email it to Hammer's contact and get some idea of what they can do.

Thanks!

Dave

How can we contribute to the cost of getting this done?

Yeah, would you like us to chip in, or is it something you'd just like to do?

It would be fine if you want to contribute. We'll get a basic design to the company and figure out the options, I'll consult with Linda and then we can order as soon as possible.

Thanks, all.

Are we doing an engraving? Or a photo? Or are we not sure yet?

I'm almost done one that would work for an engraving. I think.

Janet was giving me some ideas Friday, she was thinking along the lines of either some kind of etching that does not actually protrude into the plaque or a 3-D embossed type of plaque. She is going to get with one of her people that specializes in this and get back to me early next week. We are just trying to get something in general of what we want on there.

I'll convert that to a full res pdf and send it to Dave then. Obviously, the font and placement of the lettering can be changed pretty easy.

I love that, Chris . Anything that would do that design justice would be terrific. Please email it to Hammer as well, so he can turn it over to Janet.

Jet, Baketech could probably do anything, given enough time, but the people that Randy is in touch with have several shops with this capability. I'm inclined to see what they can come up with.

They should know that it will be outdoors and we have to be able to screw it into the wall of the tech shed.

Again, Chris, thanks.

You know I was just looking at this thinking that a light Grattan Raceway logo might look nice in the background...
Anyone have access to something like that? I'll see what I can nab from their website.

Nevermind....got one.

I like the simplicity of the original idea for the plaque (bronze), though I'd be interested in framing one with a light version of our logo for my office (photo).

Wow, truly inspirational knowing this is being done. Wish I could be there for the memorial dedication. Thanks to everyone for setting this up.
