Re: Depooooo....I've got an idea....

Don't have one yet but I have been doing some research and narrowing down the list. Didn't realize that there would be no less than 20 companies making them.

I am trying to keep the price as far below $500 without sacrificing "durability". Durability in this case is me not having to walk back to the pits with a sprained ankle after folding said pocketbike in half on the back straight.

Re: Depooooo....I've got an idea....

Back in the "old racing days" Gingerman raceway used to have pitbike races during the lunch "quiet time" they had to observe due to local regulations.

<50cc was with rider only; >50 and up to 100CC had to carry a passenger. It made for some pretty interesting racing.

Two stroke or four stroke matter?

Granted the upper scale is most likely going to be better quality with mo' power but I'm just in it for the fun of it. Thought about requesting it to be a spec race by just picking the cheapest but I don't want to hamstring anyone's choice of clown car.

So far, the only fair rules I could come up with are:

<50cc
No traction or any other electronic rider aids

And since this is the Big Boy Challenge, anyone weighing less than 240lbs must carry a backpack full of sandbags to bring rider weight up to the minimum 240lb limit.

Of course, this is still all dependent on Abtech approving this
Make it 250 and it's a go . . .

Yes, Sir.

250 it is.

That 100cc with passenger sounds interesting too.

It just balanced things out until in one of the last races I saw, the passenger donned roller blades (in full leathers and helmet) and was towed behind the XR100.

Ok... so I got the motor of the pocket bike all tuned.... and fired up after several years of no fire.

But, I am going to probably buy a CRF50 so we will see which bike shows up?

That is some amazing riding!

The little bikes only liability seems to be in the whoops, where it is hilarious to watch!

Anyone actually buy one of these bikes? X18 4 Stroke Super Pocket Bike

Are these pieces of crap or semi-decent?

I think a modded dirt bike would be more fun to have / own..

Then again I'm 6', 230 lbs... ha

but that bike would disqualify you from the competition. 50cc only because big guys on little bikes are hilarious.

how many bikes do we have for this race so far?

Technically I'm out of the running because my YSR is 200cc, but if I can fit it in the truck, I'm bringing it.

I haven't started keeping track yet. Figured I'd wait on the dates and go from there.

I threw this out to Depo as a challenge to expand upon last years not expecting that everyone would jump on it. I'm thinking a second race for everyone or just lump 'em all together with some rule tweaks (eg; more cc's more ballast).

Although a 200cc screamer and evl will have to carry a pretty big sandbag. Phobe-sized.
