Why the change, Ab? Was there a problem? I know it's a personal thing of yours, but I've never been required to do it at any other trackday, nor does the Schwantz School require it.
I get the safety thing for racing. Also, my bike won't run without the kickstand, as I'm sure most won't. Is zip tying it up an option?
It would take me less than 2 minutes to make it run without the kickstand for you (and easily reversible).
It takes about 10 pounds of force for someone else to push you backwards off the Baxley.
The safety thing has to do with an open practice, which in reality is exactly what a trackday is. I was involved in an incident where a person lost his life entirely because someone else's kickstand went through his chest in a fairly tame multiple bike crash. There have been more than a few similar incidences at NON-RACING events.
If I have to get your bike on and off the stand myself, no problem. I just can't in good consience allow these any longer.
I understand other organizations may allow this, but I can't. Like I said, if it presents a problem for certain people, I will take whatever steps are necessary to make it happen for them.

Re: FAQ for Grattan 2007
Kickstands are just a liability to a rider on a high performance course. It is very important to understand that those kickstands are capable of doing a truckload of damage to you and the bike if it were to come out mid-corner. The boys from Learning Curves told us a story about a guy who went to make a gear change mid-corner, foot slipped, and kicked out the stand.
Stand dug in and flipped him off the bike... not a pretty scene.
I am a big dude and I am comfortable getting off the bike and putting my own rear stand on, I am pretty short also. Just remember to jump the kickstand sensor and tape it in place.

Re: FAQ for Grattan 2007
ohhh also on 929s and also 954s...... (maybe other bikes also) you need to remove the shift linkage because the kickstand bolt will not come off unless you do so.

I'm thinking a zip tie would be easy to deal with whn HG2 rides up - we could just cut it and re-zip it for the next session in a couple of minutes.

OK I have to remind some and alert others to a fact. Last year there was ZERO crashes, the year before ZERO injuries. A lot of groups talk safety but I think Abtech's record reflects that he means it. Guess what that means WE don't get hurt. I think he deserves the benefit of a doubt on safety issues so anybody that has not attended trust him, the rest of you

You can jump the kickstand safety switch pretty easily.
Just use a Scothlock type connector across both wires.

I had asked for the time off before just gotta talk to them again and make sure. Insurance is all set (got my card the other day), maybe have the truck next week, and the back protector and knee pucks will be here before it gets warm. now I just gotta winterize the bike cause I haven't done that yet.

Michigan folks dont have paypal? (looks around) I'm almost ashamed to say I dont remember what my checkbook looks like. I hope I can find it. Any chance for a paypal payment?
Oh and I'd like to give a mild objection to the kickstand rule. I understand it and appreciate the rule but I will be on a tight budget for the first half of the year and I doubt I can spring for a Baxley and Barber.

There will be lots of people there willing to help get your bike on a rear stand, and they will be available in abundance.

I should be okay... like I said... just a mild objection.
Worst case scenario I'll just lean the bike against my van.
