Sheep, sorry to hear you will have that long drive.

BTW BWhip... I'm assuming that renting a bike will also provide me stands and tire warmers? I never did ask about that.
don't be. Only 4 or 8 for me.

I will have my bike and be riding the Rockies on three days after with the RR Spotting Buffalo, Elk, Moose and RMBs. Visiting the Jackalope Museum and a dinosaur area. I MIGHT even get paid to go out to Colorado which makes gas cost go to zero though it will mess up the Dino area trip. Also I will have my gear including warmers and stands I am even tossing the grill in just in case.

Plus I love road trips though my favorite is driving about 12PM in the middle of nowhere and I will not being doing that so I can keep my sleep schedule adjusted

Of course I will only have the low-fi iPod to listen to over the truck noise

If you're talking Dinosaur NM, I hate to say it but don't bother. The really cool building is closed and other parts are as well due to structural issues. The small visitor buildings on both sides of the border are open, but there's nothing really to them.
And the museum is completely and totally lame compared to other museums/parks closer to the I15 area you'll be in anyway.
Serious, right now both the NM and the corresponding State Park are not worth visiting. We stopped by a few weeks ago on the way back from a trip to CO and it isn't worth it.
If you want to see a killer dino museum I'll tell you where in a week or so.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government.

Actually the Dino thing is up by Laramie WY and more a target of opportunity than a priority. If work wants me to stop in Colorado I will be going the longer way across Colorado instead though. Other than getting my states and the RMB Center I have no priorities just a bunch of roaming and seeing cool stuff when I spot it. I love the tacky 60's tourist traps The area down south has a tentitive plan that will be adjusted with your input when I get it

Frenchie, just take it easy for a few laps and your tires will warm up just fine. Besides, it's a perfect excuse to take it easy for a few laps.

You should pick up a portable satellite radio device. $40 and $13.99 for a month's service and you'll be able to choose what you want to listen to and not have to bounce from radio station to radio station.

Discontinue or put the service on hold while you're not travelling and reinstate it when you do and it's not expensive at all.

I have Sirius and I don't even listen to the normal radio stations anymore.

I've got XM, and it's great for long trips (like, say - to Michigan!). Lots of music channels of every type, but also talk, sports, comedy. Definitely makes long travel less boring. I use the iPod, too (over 6,000 songs on mine), but it's nice to hear people talking once in a while, too.

What kind of tires will the bike have on it? If they're just street tires you might be wasting your time with the warmers.

Me too, on the XM. Worked great on my trip-well till it got a little TOO wet

I am going to be using an iPod soon. I want to put some audio books on it, as well as tunes that don't seem to make it to even XM. With my hearing status I don't know that I will mind it too much. If I even hear it at all.

As I remember it Chris at the rental place said they get track tires, don't remember which ones, but they sounded good.

CBRVFR had a list about what the rental bikes came with but I can't find it. Either way, I'm not going there to make a record speed but more so to say I've rode a new track... Each year I have a goal to try 2 new tracks...This year was Vegas and Utah... Can't ask for anything better then that... well..........

I'm blessed and very lucky to be able to make that trip....

Pilot Powers, no warmers mentioned. You won't need them, they warm up quickly based on my experience with them at Road Atlanta. And they work very well.

Lookee what I found, while doing a search on YouTube for Miller Motorsports - a video put together by our friend 1Speed1 at Labor Day last year. It features (particularly in the second half) quite a few photos of many of our friends from here - BDA116, Phobe, Jessica, PurpDust, etc. Brings back some good memories, and is one more way to get us ready for our fun this year!

The video Speed shot that day was all done in the B group and yes, many of their lines were off. Some very badly off, but they all still had fun.
And the track does have elevation change, but it is so wide and long that the changes are very gradual except in a couple spots. You can see through most corners, only a couple blind ones. Most of the corners will feel and appear flat even though you'll be going either slightly up or downhill.

True flat is relative. But compared to Grattan or Barber you can see the turn before you need to set up thus giving a person that is slower and unfamiliar (me ) a better chance The biggest challenge will be three layouts in three days though someone pointed out that means learn 1/2 then other 1/2 then ride whole

If you want to see lines (and speed ), watch the Shane Turpin video I posted the link to a week or two back. Or any video of me on the track. (just kidding about that last part )

You're going to make me cry since I can't make it this year to ride with you awesome people!!

JakeR1 (Matt) actually put that together, I was doing most of the filming.

Besides Grattan & now the last SBW 2-day event we just did at Pahrump, this is the most fun I've had on a track day outing!! Miller full track is just plain SICK!

bwhip, thanks for all the work you do to help the rest of us enjoy our time at the track...... and away from it...... ...... YOU ROCK!!

Can't wait to see all the awesome pictures & video from this event!!
