I'm guessing that the satellite picture on google earth/maps is much older than the current track configuration - it doesn't even look like the same place.

The full track is run counterclockwise and the east and west are linked together on the front straight and a smaller inside back straight. I think it is 4.5 miles and ~24 turns. Freaking awesome.
edit: I think AMA just runs the perimeter, cutting out all the fun middle stuff.

Re: What is the MIller track shown on google earth?
That is a go-kart track, called Black Rock, that was built around 2000 to be included in the Deseret Peak complex, which is all that stuff in the lower part of that area if you zoom out in Google Earth. A couple MotoX tracks, equestrian park, water park, rodeo/derby grounds, firefighters museum, etc. All in all the combined complexes are quite large.
When Larry bought the 500+ acres to build the track, they took out the relatively new kart track to put in the complex, and a good part of the reason MMP included an even better karting facility.
The land that kart track sits on is where the Black Rock hairpin (and hence the name) is on the track - the hairpin in the upper right of the MMP map. The parking lot and control tower still exist, and can be seen in vids (like bwhip's) of the place.
There has only ever been one build of the MMP complex, it was done very quickly once all the permits were in. In concept he initially just planned on a simple ribbon of asphalt, but the concept grew into what it is today before any construction began.
Well, by "done" I mean where it is at now. They are always adding. Last year there were more porta-potties and temporary food stands, now there are permanent buildings all around the place. Nice, air conditioned flushing toilets are everywhere.
More grandstands this year and more paved areas as well.
The AMA ran the perimeter last year due to Speed requiring more money for the extra cameras and infrastructure to run them.
MMP has installed camera points in the "infield" now, but the AMA will run the perimeter, thus cutting out some of the best parts of the track, again this year. Should do the full next.
Most all of the riders bitched about it last year, but everyone knows how well the AMA listens.

This is more or less how the track sits in relation to the Google Earth image. Quick and dirty rendering, I don't have time for a nice one just now.
And I put red Xs on the portions not used when running the full course.

Phoube post #5 has it right.
The fast clubber AMA riders do the full thing in ~2:50 - 2:55 on superbike 1000s.
The same crew on their 600s are ~ 3:00 - 3:05

Great Observation

It's not pristine. Remember, there is a bump just at the entrance to the three Ds.
