My road trip for Grattan is starting tomorrow... Yep tomorrow. I have to deliver a Yacht in Waukegan, Illinois on Wednesday and then go up to Appleton, Wisconsin for 2 days for the delivery of another 45 footer.
They where suppose to fly me there, but I told the company I was driving down there anyway the week after. So instead of taking my truck and pay for gas to go to Grattan, I'll use the company truck and have all the gas paid for .
So me and V a leaving tomorrow, we should be in the Chicago area on Sunday night!
Awesome man, I should have put some energy into getting a meeting set up at a customer in the Chicago area.

Nice. I've seen a few of those at the boat shows. My wife and I have been looking at a Nordhavn 40 to get in a few years. A bit slower pace though.
Man, you plan on going around the world or something?
Cool boat.

I don't know if I should post these.... but I'll do it anyway. Here a not photoshop picture of a Doral they where putting in the water a few weeks ago in Europe. Look at the patrol guy. Looks like he's naked
We are in Waukegan. It's official, I don't like Chicago..... Just drove through this afternoon and wanted to puke. And what's up with the roads Good thing is that they are working to improve them, bad thing is they are working on all of them at the same time. I just want to be at Grattan. Can I just skip this week?

Yup.. I don't miss the roads in Chicago... they are always on construction
I have to say that the little I saw of Chicago looks like and really old city, very industrial and all the buildings are in red brick.
Just driving through was not very exciting but I'm sure downtown is WAY more interesting!

Downtown is actually pretty nice and worth the drive. Having said that, you couldn't pay me enough to tow any type of a trailer in that traffic.
It is truly terrible. Just awful. Much worse than LA IMO.
The lady got stuck at the wheel last year when we got buried in it, and I thought she was going to have a breakdown. I would've traded spots with her but there was nowhere to do it.
This reminds me, I need to look into the ferry to avoid that traffic hellhole this year.
Downtown Chicago is awesome though.

Yeah, Phobe and Purp and I had fun driving through Chicago on the way back from Grattan last year.
I wish we could take the ferry from Milwaukee like we did on the way last year (thanks, Maxib!), but my trailer's a bit too large. Chicago, here we come.
Driving in Chicago is not all that bad once you learn how to drive like they do. Drive like a bat out of hell, slam on the brakes when the idiot in front of you does. If you want to change lanes, blink twice close eyes and turn. Simple.
Amateurs practices until they get it right. A professional practices until they can't get it wrong.
It's the fucked up, midievel toll booths (my tax dollars given to a private French company) and omnipresent construction that mess it up.
