Now, just purely out of curiousity, couldn't the zip-tied passenger pegs become spears as well as a zip-tied kickstand?

Not a problem for me any longer, I've got a Baxley and last year my short self mastered dealing with my 929 sans kickstand. In fact, I never put it back on after Grattan and did more trackdays with it after Grattan.

I found the pavement at Grattan to be no worse (and perhaps better) than those nasty transitions onto the nascar oval at Loudon, and certainly better than Pocono's shitty pavement. I also understand that sections of Grattan were repaved at the end of last season....anyone have any input on that?

Grattan is definitely better than NHIS...MS...Loudon...whatever. Even if you completely ignore the pavement of both Grattan still wins because of the nice, wide, grassy areas around the edges of most of the track. Loudon has these things called boulders and Jersey barriers.
Don't get me wrong, I like Loudon, but I think Grattan is better.

Yes they could, but then they aren't near the length of a kickstand and really duplicate the other spears (your rider pegs) which do not have to be removed.

As I said a few years ago, this sport is dangerous enough with the things we can't control so I'm trying to eliminate the stupid stuff I have seen seriously hurt people (and can be controlled).

Just think: If Maxib didn't have a kickstand, he wouldn't have tried to dismount with the stand half way down and wouldn't have messed up his ankle and ruined his trip to Grattan. This is with the bike parked and not moving mind you . . .

Also the kick stand is sprung so once it passes a point it is flicked open, pegs are more flexible. Plus on an RC it weighs....

Oh, I totally agree with you. I was just curious about the passenger pegs. NO arguments here. As I said, it's become a non-issue for me anyway!

Truer words have never been spoken! Pocono has been going downhill for a while now.

Glad to see this thread. I'm sure I'll be able to make it with Mad Max in tow. I have to go crunch some numbers now...

I'm in for all three days and one garage. Most likely it'll be me and Mad Max so there's 2 spaces left in our garage.

Anyone from the Northeast considering track(car) pooling? I have a roomy Odyssey/trailer. I also provide free earplugs in case I snore in the car

I'd luck to cut expenses before I try to get a request for approval from my boss (wife)

Paging through RRW's new trackday directory, the first article is something like the top 10 reasons for a racer to do a trackday. Reason #1 was that you can use your sidestand instead of messing with race stands. Reason #10 repeated (paraphrased) "Did I mention the sidestand thing?"
