Hey, everyone! I'm in Salt Lake City, counting down the hours until morning, when I'll head to the track. Unfortunately, it's clear we're going to get at least some rain.

Has anyone been to the track yet this weekend?

I realize we only have a few people planning to go, but where's the news, the excitement? Anyone?

I hope you have a great day TAZ, and that the rain holds off.

Sheep, do you remember that thunderstorm in the afternoon of the first day last year?

I think he's decided to skip the trip; apparently his bike isn't ready... :-(

I expect to see MotoVegas there, and I recall seeing Purpdust threaten to show up, but we'll see. ;-)

I'm at the track, just hanging out in the rain. Bike's not ready, so I'm just going to hang out and take photos, weather permitting. See y'all in the morning.

Nope wait maybe did it just kind of hit without even getting the track wet? I don't recall any wet sessions. Bummer that more folks aren't there TAZ but you will love the track

Surprisingly beautiful this morning out here, considering that it felt like Gustav had jumped a few states last night. Great to see MotoVegas and TAZ.

    2006 Ducati 749R Race/Track Bike It's been sold.

Well, since the earlier post the weather turned ugly - been raining, gray and cold all morning. According to the radar the afternoon should be better.

It's about 12:40pm now; just about to start the afternoon sessions. Weather looks MUCH better now. Hopefully the track will dry out; every morning session was on a wet track.

I'm doing okay so far; I haven't fallen off, and haven't been passed yet (running in the B group). ;-)

By the way, this track is awesome!

It's 2:40pm now. Track is entirely dry. I'm having a blast. I've been passed a half-dozen times now; the dry track brought out a lot of confidence that obviously wasn't there in the rain.

Etienne, this (bone-stock) 600RR makes your bike feel like a liter machine!

BWhip has been out taking photos all afternoon, while I haven't really taken any. Talk about role-reversal!

You would think a guy with 30 bikes could find one to ride

Glad things dried for you TAZ but you do need to get some pics when you tour

I think I got some pretty good ones. I wish everyone wore the clear face shields.

Great to see you. Looked like fun out there! I look forward to hearing about your touring adventure.

Good seeing you Brian. SMMR in the fall for sure! And nice meeting you Terry. I didn't ride on Monday. That morning weather was horrible. So I packed up and headed home (I planned on leaving at 2pm anyway, and apparently it didn't get *nice* until around then, so I guess I didn't miss too much). I'll just look on the bright side and while I wasn't able to get 6 trackdays over 8 days... I was able to at least get 5!

Great meeting you and the family, J!

Really good to see you again so soon, Whipper! I was sure I wouldn't be seeing you until Grattan in '09! Sorry I missed you before you took off; I figured you were still out shooting, but then realized your RV was gone.

Thanks again for toting my gear to the track...very helpful!

Towards the end of the day I was feeling a lot more comfortable, and going a whole lot faster. I'd love to spend a couple days on the full course there; so much fun!

The ultimate was one on East, one on West then Full I was spoiled. Did the altitude get you TAZ? I was getting winded during the 1/2 hours sessions and would come in for a 2 minute breather in the middle once I figured it out.

Surprisingly, I wasn't getting winded or tired, although a couple times I cut my session short by five minutes or so...as soon as I started worrying about making a mistake or losing concentration.

I did have a nasty headache all day yesterday. Today it's not as bad, but I've been popping aspirin like they were Pez. :P

Another thing to try is go to your room and turn the water full hot in the sink then put a towel over your head and soak in some steam. The 0% humidity destroys me when I go out west if I don't do that or similar.

Try reducing the aspirin a bit and increase water intake. The headache is common when adjusting to high altitude and increasing water intake will usually get rid of it.

I went through the same thing when I was in Colorado Springs and researched altitude sickness.
