2008 Ninja 250R

This thing might be a fun commuter in town. Sure beats a scooter

The 250 racers are going to love that thing.

Is there a class for this in WERA or CCS? I'm too fucking lazy to look it up...

I had a 250 for a while. It was an awesome bike (if you ignore the suspension deficiencies)! The new model is making me want to get another one...

I always thought that if they updated the looks of the 250 and 500, that they'd sell a ton of them. I think this new model looks great!

Re: 2008 Ninja 250R

I will be negotiating for a guy I work with that is looking to get one, he went to the Kawi shop and the guy is trying to stick with MSRP on the 250. He says he has 8 coming to the shop. We will see.

Probably one of the better looking bikes coming down the pipe. I can't imagine the markup being very big on it, but even still, it's not a bad deal at $3500.

I'd be surprised if they're making more than 2-300 American dollars on them.

I think it would look great with track plastics and an aftermarket system. Do you think there is room for clip-ons? Can you do much with the suspension? I've been considering a 125cc 2-smoke track bike. This might be a good low maintenance, low cost option?

I'd have a hard time trading it for my F4i as an everyday vehicle. I don't think the extra milage would be worth it. What do they get 55mpg?

I think the 250's are in the 80mpg range. At least they were 2 years ago.

Wow, that is better than I thought. That would nearly double me. I'm getting 44mpg right now.

Thanks for the heads up on the bike. Already sent out a link to a buddy looking for his first commuter.

Re: 2008 Ninja 250R

A Kawi sherpa 250 gets close to 80-90mpg unless I am on it, but even with me being a hamfist and doing about 80 on the thing it will get >58mpg.

The sherpa is probably geared differently too since it's offroad-ish.

Re: 2008 Ninja 250R

p.s. Unless you need a sportbike looking thing, a KLR650 is a kickass commuter. Upright seating, big comfy seat, room for bags or a milk crate, silly mpg (>55 depending how ridden, always better then 45) and a big tank.

New they are about 5.5k or so but a minty shape pre-loved used version is right around the 3k mark.

I talked him out of a vespa and into the idea of superbike. I see a Duc in his future more than a KLR.

He owns a bar, has lots of hot women at bay and works for local gov.
