There are a few 14 & 10 owners as well as another 650r. Yeah, there are a few but in the minority.

Re: No Kaw lovers?
Many Honda's since many are refugees from what was a primarily Honda based forum, but that is growing to many other brands. Suzuki is becoming a fairly well represented group, with a few of the big ZX's starting the influx of Kawi's.
Everyone is welcome ... you just might get some "stuff" occassionally. But all in fun. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the 650R.

Agree. You are on 2 wheels so you've got that going for you

Re: No Kaw lovers?
I have a KLR-650 and a KLR-250, and just sold my 04 ZX-10.
I replaced the '04 ZX with an '81 25SWF , so far it's working out well. The new connie has my attention as did the ZX-14 for awhile. Without Honda deviating from their list of standard rides it seems likely I'll be going back to a Kawi. when the time comes. |

Re: No Kaw lovers?
You know, I don't have any on this computer.
In 1999, it started when I came up with the idea of building my own vintage road racer after racing other people's vintage road racers over the years. A friend gave me a set of Denco Cobra cylinder heads. He said, "There, you now have an H1. You just need to get the rest of the parts." I bought four bikes in a package later that year. I've got laced up wheels with radial tires, 18" wheels. I have a slightly modified '74 frame. I have a very, very special crank that I had made in Australia along with some ignition bits. A GS1100 aluminum swingarm that was rebent to fit the narrower rear wheel. In the time that I've had the project, I've put together and raced two ZX6R's, a GSXR600, two R6's, and now my SV1000. What can I say? Too many projects. On the vintage side, I raced a TR500, a CR750, and an H1 for some guys. I might not ever get it done, but right now I need to come up with about a $1000 for a new gear box. I can get a really cool one from England. Too many things come up. MotoST this weekend is one of them.

What is this? "Confession of a Kawisaki Owner" time?
If so, I do have a KDX200 for playing around on

Re: No Kaw lovers?
I almost bought a KFX400 at one point.......but it's a fake Kawasaki anyway. Not so sure having an actual Kawasaki is any better, though.

Re: No Kaw lovers?
Sorry for the late reply but yeah I'm a Kawi owner. Been riding over 30 years and now have an 06 ZX-14 and love the bike. It has some awesome power and yet really friendly to ride. Guess thats why most owners are in late 30's and older. The bike is really forgiving and has great ergos. I have friends with Busa's and I'm telling you those bikes are beasts! Although I am partial to Kawi I love all makes. Have also previously owned Honda, Suzuki and currently have a Harley. My only true dissapointment has been my H.D. It is really underpowered.

Re: No Kaw lovers?
I only had two complaints with the 'Busa. It irritated my back and the throttle was too touchy for city riding. Other than that it handled very well. If the zx14 is a better bike that would be an impressive feat indeed. Those big bikes don't seem very practical to me. Too much to insure and too fast for public roads. Aren't the liter bikes too fast already? I don't find the 14 very appealing visually.

Also, as for ergos, the 14 is about, um... a ZILLION times more comfortable than a 600 or 1000 (esp., if you are an American sized American, LOL). For a "sportbike" the 14 is very practical for city, commuting and touring. Just because she has monster-endless supply of power, doesn't mean she wasn't set up just perfect for lolly-gagging around if one is so inclined to ride it in that manner. As for looks, well, aesthetics by it's very definition is in the eye of the beholder. And finally, pretty much any and every street legal bike is "too fast" for city riding if one doesn't have the self control to moderate their right hand. |
