Epic ride in the Sierra Nevada's.....

Once again SHADOW BOY (rides a 650 shadow) and I shook our duties and responsibilities and partook on an epic ride last Friday. WHy was it epic cause it was an awesome SOCAL day, flowers in bloom (aww the softer side of Mojave), snow was melting and the rivers were running. This is the first epic ride of the season and it took us out through Tehachapi, then to the backside of the 178 which some of you knows leads to Kernville. We stopped in Kernville for lunch and hot chocolate. Once that was done, we went up the N. Fork of the Kern. We stopped and took notice and had a moment of silence at the spot where someone put down their F4i. Or, so the story goes. It was before my time so, who really knows what happens. Then we kept on going up towards and past Johnsondale. The road to the 100 giants was closed but, hind sight being what it is... well you know. So we hung a right and took the road back as far as we could. The fires from 2003, I think, are still scarring the landscape. Just wow on how long it is taking for it to recover up there. So, once that was done we headed back. This time we took the road less traveled through BODFISH/CALIENTE. Ummm, I forgot just how twisty that road is. Not too many incidents on the road. Had two azzhats in pickups decide that they could have the whole road. One was just as I was getting ready to hit the apex of a turn. Had to lean the feejer deeper than intended but, she handled it very well. The other was another truck later on. And then, we had COWS in the road. Unreal. Other than that, it was just amazing and the best ride in a really long time. As for the new motorcycle, you can see it there in the pics the big black one. It is very comfy, plenty of power and handles like a dream. After 300 plus miles I was not sore or tired. Had that been on the R1, probably wouldn't been able to walk for a week.

This ride has since been dubbed, "THE HOT CHOCOLATE RIDE". WHy, cause there is an awesome place in Kernville where the hot chocolate is okay but the it is who makes it that makes it hot.

Pix are too big to put on here. Sorry. Just have to take my word for it.

I too was wondering about the need for hot chocolate in the current California weather, or any Cali weather for that matter. It's still freezing at night here, and was snowing two days ago, that is hot chocolate weather.

Use MS Picture Manager or something to resize the pictures

Sounds like a great first ride of the season. The snow hasn't fully melted here, and we are supposed to get a little more today before it turns to rain and melts it back off.

Mojave is a little bit of a pansy. If it drops even 1 degree below 70 he's gotta break out the parka.

its been getting up to the mid-high 40s here the last week. I even had to switch to getting cold drinks and turning the AC on while I work because I start to sweat.
