CR450F as a motard?

Ok, I found a CR450F up here for about $2500, but, it needs the bottom end redone, and is a Dirt bike...

After riding EVLTWN's 650 motard last year I have not been able to get the thought out of my head about getting one.

Anyone ridden a 405F as a 'tard? they seem to be listing out around here anywhere from $3500 to $5000 fairly stock. I thought at least this way I could build it the way I want and know that it would be done right.

Or would it be better to look for one that hasn't been blown up and pray that nothing breaks on it?

What can you do to these to make them more reliable? from what I have heard I won't be needing more power, but I want to build it strong just to be safe.

Anyone had much experience with one of these?

Re: CR450F as a motard?

I don't have that experience you are asking about but I have looked into 'tarding the CR450F and there are some great all inclusive conversion kits out there for it. I'm sure you are aware that the bottom end on a four stroke is going to be a lot more work and expense than if it was a two-stroke. Just make sure you research the price of the work well so that you can decide if it is better to buy one that hasn't already blown.

Re: CR450F as a motard?

+1 to what he said...for me finding one thats still OE and unexploded for 1k$ more is way more worth it.

I just sold my 05 450X for 4k$ earlier this year, and with the bottom falling out of the economy I'd expect playthings like these to be the first items to be fire-saled by many. Specially since winter is coming and I know it snows there
