600RR Fork Oil (2005-2006)
The manual calls out "Pro Honda Suspension Fluid SS-55." The best I can come up with is Showa SS05. Has anyone refreshed the oil in their forks yet? What did you use? My springs (and shock) are coming in this week!

Re: 600RR Fork Oil (2005-2006)
I've used a Bel-Ray or similar brand that has an identifiable weight number, so If I want a little more or less viscosity, I know what to tweak it with.
I'd be concerned that the -05 and -55 indicates different weights.
Is this what you're talking about? It's 5W which is pretty common http://powersports.honda.com/the_goo...&TheGoodsDir=5

Plaza Cycle: Honda: Suspension Fluid SS-55 10W
The above link is the only reference to SS-55 that I found, and it claims that it is 10W. However, the bottle looks really old. I did look on the Honda page you linked to and saw both the 5W and 10W, but not the call number specified by the manual.
Interestingly, the manual calls out the SS-8 (10W) oil for the damper rod forks in the 2003-2004 model years. The number changes to SS-55 for the cartridge forks in the 2005-2006 model years, which might suggest that it is no longer 10W oil. As you mentioned and I suspect, the cartridge forks may require 5W oil. There are many ambiguities, however, that make me hesitant to go with 5W at the moment.

Who are you getting your springs from? If it is a suspension guy that you trust, ask them..
Also, as I'm sure you're aware, fork performance is predicated on good cleaning, careful reassembly, and the height of the oil (and resultant air space) in the tubes.

Re: 600RR Fork Oil (2005-2006)
I'm getting them from Dan Kyle. Initially he told me that the stock weight was 10w, but when I ordered Ohlins oil at 10w he balked and suggested that I use the stock Honda oil. I am now in the process of identifying the weight because I am planning on buying either AMSoil or Redline oil when I do the swap.
Thanks for the advice! This will be my first go around with cartridge forks but I had my SV forks apart plenty of times, including a full rebuild. I'm hoping there are no surprises!

Re: 600RR Fork Oil (2005-2006)
I called a Honda dealership and they cross referenced SS-55 with the SS-8 (10w). Maybe I should have just listened to Dan.
I haven't had a chance to ride my new setup yet since we have gotten something like 18 inches of snow in the past couple of days, but I'll report how the forks feel when I make it out.
