2009 Honda models

Silly season is upon us. Honda should be releasing new models in a few more weeks.

Rumors of a new VFR are once again abundant: 2009 VFR 990cc

Haven't heard of much else - usually that's not the case.

The 1000RR is still a new model - probably new paint schemes and that's probably about it.

The 600RR will probably get some sort of a minor upgrade - what more could they do to it?

The Goldwing crowd certainly seems to have their wish list... 2009 Goldwing Info - Rumor?

Will they join the ranks of Supermotos? Perhaps something to compete with the Yamaha Vmax? New VMAX

A new Blackbird perhaps?

meh.

I refuse to build false hope for sweeping changes in Honda's lineup.

BNG will be the order of the day.

I wish for this every year.

Yep.

The 600RR will probably get some sort of a minor upgrade - what more could they do to it?

Slipper clutch. Lower, centralized exhaust. Gear indicator. Integrated signals. Seat cowl included in price of bike.

A new Blackbird perhaps?

I'll believe the above when I see it.

We'll just have to wait......

Nice looking vfr. Lets just hope they choose better colors.

Honda needs to up their game with the ST. Been getting its arse kicked in the SUPER sport tourer division for years.

I agree that it needs an update.

However, it still seems to win some of the shoot-outs as the best all-rounder. They need to refresh it without changing the good things about it.

With the current market they should consider bringing over some small displacement bikes. I know they don't sell well here historically, but 250-500cc machines are hot right now with so many folks looking for cheap (high fuel mileage) transportation. From an enthusiast standpoint, this could pave the way for a SuMo type bike to compete with the DRZ and WR. Or a small CBR to compete with the Ninja 250.

I'd have a hard time resisting a CBR400RR. Even the CBR125 like phobe has would be great around town.

I think they'll probably make the models they have less desirable with un-needed gadgets and the sort of graphics / matte finish paint that plagued that "urban" version of the 600RR last year.

For instance, if the VFR/Interceptor gets a larger engine, it will also get Kinetic Energy Recovery Linked ABS Brakes or same damned thing - or a continuously variable trans.

When you fully appreciate how much they've degraded their F1 racing effort, it becomes apparent how much damage they're capable of.

I think scooters are filling that market. A SuMo and whatnot is probably a much smaller niche. People interested in the "small" bikes are looking for good commuters. While you and I might think a SuMo is good commuter, Grandpa doesn't.

The 09 600rr will get the typical mid-cycle updates... bit less weight, few more peak horsepower. The centre-up exhaust probably won't go away until the 2011 model.

Rumor I heard from a fellow FMX owner this past weekend is that the new FMX will be based on the XR650R engine. Good thing they won't bring it to the US.

I heard the 1000rr will get an electronic steering damper, and the 600rr will get some type of graffiti paintjob.

Funny this comes out the day my VFR gets eaten alive by a burgundy and chrome psudeo couch with almost twice as much engine.

NEED NEW BIKE!!

I will be slow on either bike. I went with the Suzuki b/c I wanted to wear flip-flops and feel the wind in my toes.

I love the looks of the 600rr now. I hope they keep the RC-ish nose (I was hoping the new 1000rr would look like the 600) and upgrade the other stuff when it is time for a major change.

Unless the 600RR gets some very compelling upgrades I'll probably stick with my '05 for one more season. I've got enough invested in spares and upgrades that it would be cost prohibitive to move up to a new model just yet (not to mention the divorce lawyer fees that would likely be involved)

Not sure why you guys do this to yourselves.

BTW what are the other manufacturers doing? I mean, this isn't a Honda board anymore is it?

Who gives a shit what anyone else is making, only Honda will make:

-The RC61
-The Viffer's big brother.
-An XX replacement.
-The bike that is like a transvestite version of all of them, in a phonebooth, at once.

...they are making it all THIS YEAR!!!

So apparently the damper will be called HESD and the 600 is alleged to get a unit pro-link suspension and undertail exhaust...I'll believe it when I see it
