Battery

I need a battery for my 2004 CBR 1000RR and I found this one on Ebay.
eBay Motors: Honda CBR 1000RR 1000 Battery YTZ10S 12 Mon Warranty (item 160213324727 end time Mar-09-08 04:55:01 PDT)
Is an aftermarket battery a satisfactory replacement or would you guys suggest I get OEM?

Get a Yousa battery. Spelling may be off on that but have used them for years and no troubles. Be weary of online battery shops, just be sure to check the return policy and warranty issues.

I think it is yuasa. That's what I have in mine. I heard once that there are actually only about three battery manufacturers in the world and that almost every battery is made by one of those three no matter what it says on the outside.

Good price on the real thing here: YTZ10S YTZ10S BikeBatts Sealed Activated, Maintenance Free battery

Agree with these guys. It's worth it to get the Yuasa.

What happened with the fouled plug issue?

I've had good luck with both Yuasa and Interstate.

Changed the plugs and still wont start...I am going to check the fuel flow and the drain the tank and put some more fresh gas in. May take out the fuel pump and check the strainer too.

EDIT: I ask about the real thing because I'm in the market for 2 or 3, so really interested in the answer. Thanks.

Is that really the real thing? Other than the part number painted on the side there are no other identifying markings.

It is probably true there are only about 3 battery manufactures, but things do get made at different levels of quality based on the brand/label's specifications. I still prefer to go to the names I trust.

You know after looking at mine and at that pic again it might not be the real thing. I jumped to conclusions based on the fact that I actually searched "yuasa" rather than just the part number. I didn't really even pay attention to the picture. Mine is clearly labeled "Yuasa."

I've never tried them, but Odyssey has been getting some pretty good reviews on an MV site. I need a batt and might try one in the next couple of months.

Odyssey Direct

Otherwise, Yuasa is worth the money.

Exactly. The same contract manufacturers that make Macs make Dells. Does that mean they're the same? Of course not...

Those claims are interesting. Their website could use some work though. I get nothing but a mostly black screen when I click on "motorcycles."

Don't know if you have these in your area. I have found good deals on batteries there for many applications. I think I bought a Yuasa batt there for the Triumph, but now I don't see that brand in their listings.

Most cheap batterys are made from recycled batterys and the recycled lead does not make for a good battery for long. I bought a cheap on and it lasted a year. Most of the Yuasa batterys I have owned have lasted aslong as the bike it came in. Even with out a battery tender in the winter months of Michigan.

I now have a Battery tender cause I have 6 bikes and a quad and just don't ride as much as I used to.
