Pretty happy with my Porter Cable. It's served me well many times.

I have the Dewalt 18v cordless one and I like the versatility. Also the quick change blade system, but there is more movement in the joint, it may not last as long, we'll see. Otherwise, the old Millwaukie one has been the standard for years. Home Depo has them onsale right now (at least the one by me.)

Milwaukee is the one I almost pulled the trigger on at the store last time, 13A. Their corded tools are awesome.

I would like a Makita LiIon to match my drill and impact, but dang, that is an expensive tool.

Back when I used to do fab work, the only one I would have in the shop was the Milwaukee variable with Qwik cord. It was the only one that would stand up to the abuses...

But who knows, maybe the others have caught up by now...

I like the Milwaukee with the quik cord as well. We had a nice one of those with a quick change chuck at my last place, and a Bosch and a few DeWalts (one corded and 2 cordless actually). I really never had an issue with any of them but the MW had the best feel to it.

The DW I liked for getting me out of tight spots but I always felt like the battery died too early on.

I currently have Ryobi 18v everything as my housetold toolset, it was cheap and capable and going on 3 or so years and I haven't replaced anything in it yet so it's good by me.

The cordless batteries in MW devices seem to die quicker than most, I don't mean runtime I mean overall lifetime. Not sure if the Li changed this or not.

    what is the job?

I have 3 and each one has differences. The corded HD Milwaukee will wear out your trigger finger if you are doing a lot of cuts, but it has the muscle.

18v DeWalt is ok for quick cuts. It will cut the tips off about 10 galvanized fence posts for example. Up and down ladders, you want this tool. Not the Milwaukee.

36v Dewalt, I have not worn it out yet but it cant compete with the corded Milwaukee of course in power and endurance. (All the 36v DeWalt stuff is LiON but not labeled in many cases...)

For now, mainly portable bandsaw in the garage. In the future who knows...

    Thanks for the other comments.

    Thanks Rod.

I was ordered to halt all spending to save or buying a house...so the tool budget sucks.

Of course, when I need that saw to update her new kitchen, I'm sure the funds will magically appear...
