I'm dealing with that at work right now, we are working on a joint project to intigrate catalytic converters into marine exhaust systems. The guy is a smart engineer, a wiz a solidworks...but some of the stuff he draws up looks amazing, but impossable to actualy machine or weld. I've had to bring him to the back of the shop and put things together and show him "How are you going to get the tig torch in there?" "How would you hold this in a mill vice and be able to cut that pocket?"
I can't count how many times my dad has said, "you can tell that the engineer that designed this hasn't acutally worked on it."
...dude you ride an offroad bike with slicks, 1/2 the weight of a GS, double the suspension, with a browning 50 cal going off 32" from your skull as a daily freaking driver - I'd expect anything except a nitro dragbike to be bland by comparison - SSG

I used to say that more than I do nowadays.
There are so many comprimises in any design, you might not know what the engineer had to work with to solve the problem.
"It's not debt per se that overwhelms an individual, corporation, or country. Rather, it is the continuous increase in debt in relation to income that causes trouble." --Warren Buffett

Oh I know, FWIW my best friend and college roommate is an ME. But being mechanical, as I know you are, you know there are a lot of bolts or fasteners out there that just aren't accessible. I cussed them all the time on my sportbike but I'm aware that adding room would've meant the bike has to be bigger, or weigh more, or...
But hey, since I changed my mind from engineering to medical school I can cuss the engineer who decided where to put the appendix, or ovaries. However, I generally just ask for his help rather than cussing his work.
