I've been holding out for a killer deal on one of the Honda EU2000i models, but this might work. So how much louder is 68 db compared to the Honda, rated at 53-59 db? This one also doesn't have the inverter like the Honda, but it's about 1/3 the cost.

Every 3dB is like making it twice as loud.

I would jump on it if I were you. Great deal. IMO

it will not be that loud, not as quiet as the honda but for the price...........

68db is roughly how loud a normal face to face conversation is.

That list has been debated for years and takes into account a 60 year old weighting curve that has been abandoned for most contemporary measurements. Using the weighting that determined those levels, a totally unmuffled Harley 1300 is 6 times quieter than a race legal muffled 250 two stroke.

How did I know you would be the one to chime in on that one?

It may not be Ab-science approved, but it is close enough of a comparison to buy a generator.

I think I am set......

Coleman Powermate 5000 Watt Home Backup Generator w/ 10 HP Subaru OHV/OHC gas engine. 50 state compliant (approved for sale in California).

Fired up the whole house backfeeding it through my air-conditioner line.

Ran: Furnace, All the lights, T.Vs, 1 1/2 hp (220v) well pump, Christmas Lights for three days.

It is a little noisy... but for the $200 bucks I got it for...... and being only one season old... I will keep it.

Just tell her, "Bitch I am going riding" as you walk out the door.

Just be sure to have a sleeping bag handy on the outside of the house when you return.

There are some dumb Wooter's on the discussion Board about this.

Quote:
it is electric start? So how do you start it when you need it - WHEN THE POWER IS OFF!

I don't mean to be the voice of reason here, but "electric start"? If I have electricity, what do I need a (*&^$#@#$%^ generator for?

I love this one:

"Large Orchestra 98 dB"

The LA Philharmonic could easily put 110 dbSPL at the back wall of the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion without even using the horn section . . .

I know that illegal backfeed plug is just temporary, but just in case, but make sure to fix it proper before someone gets hurt or killed...
