How do I remove a factory Valve stem?

Ok I just pulled the tire from my 1000RR factory rim and I was hoping to use the valve stem from it for my supermoto until my new ones show up. Any Ideas? I have the tool for taking the "core" out of it, but I just can't seem to figure out how to remove the actual stem itself.

Anyone done this Before?

On a side note, the Nomar works AWESOME. literally took 2 minutes and I had the tire off the rim no scratches... simple, simple, simple.

I've seen people yank them out of there with a tool, but they don't typically get re used..

To remove one you have to cut it even with the inner rim surface, and then replace it with a new one. Check out the metal ones. They are less likely to bend while at high speeds unlike the rubber ones. I have them on mine and no problems, and no leaks. And they can be switched out.

Are your motard wheels tubeless? I have excel/talon wheels and am running tubes in mine.

As far as I know they are tubeless. Is there an easy wat to tell aside from try it and see how much air you loose?

If they're spoked, they're probably not tubeless. It should say tubeless somewhere on it if you can run without a tube.

Sounds good I'll check that shortly

On a side note did you have to change the bottoms of your fork to make your new rotor fit, or are you using factory caliper with spacers?

I am REALLY stuck with this and having a hell of a time with it. I found the small set screw that needs to be loosened but I just cannot get it back out... any ideas?

I got the EBC rotor kit which includes the caliper spacer. The only bad thing is that the original brake pads only sweep about 2/3 of the available pad area, I'd eventually like to get a better caliper.

What set screw are you talking about?

I found a VERY tiny screw at the bottom of the fork leg, that is the only thing that I can see it being, it just screws in and rests agains the fork leg.
Not sure how things work with this suspension, there are adjustments that I can make at the bottom of the leg, just not sure if I have to take them all the way out and try from there?

btw I couldn't find anything on the rims saying one way or another. Hopefully i won't need tubes. Isn't there normally a set of tube holder holes in the rims? The only extra hole on these rims are only for the valve stem.

Yes they are, spoked. I didn't think that you liked startreck... hahaha

I have seen some rims that are spoked and tubeless though... so I really don't know where I stand.

EVL have you tried yours with out the tubes?

I've not tried mine without tubes. I doubt yours are tubeless. What extra hole in the rim are you referring to? The only thing that comes to mind is rimlocks, which actually hold the tire in place not the tube. My wheels have one hole, for the tube valve stem.

Yeah that is what I meant, rimlocks. I have been out of "dirtbikes" for so long it's not funny, so you'll have to excuse me a bit.

On my CR250, they had to drill it out to get them off, and it was a brand new bike, 2 rides or something.

They tapped it and put in a bigger screw for reassembly.

just take a deep breath and look out the window so you can realize you aren't riding until June when all that snow melts.

Take good notes because I can really see myself building one of these when I get the chance.
