    Digital cam setup

Interesting. Still lacking a bit and pricey but the field is looking more promising as DV camera based helmet cams become less practical. Right now it is vaporware but I have a Hoyt and it is nice. This one should have been a 580 line or even HD but is a nice cam by spec. It will be interesting to see what video quality is when they start making them. Also what the compression format is "Advanced Recording Algorithm" is just so much techno babble.

Is Durrani making video cameras now?

Just noticed that the Durrani thread is 121 pages on the WERA board. Holy crap.

Here's another option, which looks like it's higher resolution. Costs more though.

Helmet Cam Central » Blog Archive » VIO POV1 Review: The Holy Grail of Helmet Cams - In Depth POV.1 Review with Video

The raw video clip near the bottom (not the you tube compressed one) looks pretty good for such a simple system.

    Re: Digital cam setup

Very interesting CAM. I mostly agree with the reviewer but would add a couple of things.
    1) GO HD! To upgrade from the current cam to something halfway is a shame. Sure DVD is nice but it is obsolete day 1.
    2) SD card ???? sure they are smaller but the added capacity of CF cards would be sweet and worth the extra size. 2GB sounds nice but more would be sweet, especially if you had HD capability.

You do know that SD cards are currently available in 8GB, right?

EDIT: nevermind. Looks like it only uses 2GB cards. I responded before reading the link.

And CF in 32GB. From what I have seen CF has the highest capacity with all formats increasing over time.

I think ~6 hours per 2GB is plenty. Most people with camcorders take way too much footage that ends up being absolutely meaningless junk.

Besides, I'd much rather have multiple smaller cards than one large capacity one.

That would make since, If you lost one <cough> Sheep of Blue<cough> you would not loose all of the video that you had stored.

But at HD it would be much less time. I want it all not just memory.

I have had a lot of trouble with HD. Vibration from the motorcycle kill mine. I still use MiniDV.
