Bazzaz Z-FI Mapper

Does anyone have experience with the Bazzaz Z-FI Mapper? How does it compare with the PCIII?

Not sure but let me know when you figure it out. I'm assuming this is for the 08? What about pcV?

No this is for my 2004. The shop I am using to tune my newly rebuilt motor is not getting enough fuel with the PCIII so they want to use the Bazzaz to see if they can trick all 8 injectors to provide more fuel. They are also going to increase the fuel pressure.

Will the PCIII-r do it? With that kind of motor you might consider looking at the HRC ECU.

I thought about the HRC ECU but I have a limited budget. I have already spent more than I expected to due to the rebuild...a new ECU may come later in the year though.

Can they safely tune your motor with the PCIII so that the motor won't explode until you get the ECU? If so, I'd deal with the PCIII until I had the money to do it right.

Yes. The motor had a safe tune for break in. They are tuning it now for power. They are also a few other options I can do to increase fuel...injectors, fuel pump. We will see shortly...as of now the Bazzaz unit is being installed and they will see what results they get from that.

First place to start is fuel pressure regulator, as I'm sure they've told you.

Higher pressure within reason is actually quite beneficial to power.

Yes that is what they are doing. the regulator is the first step. They say the ported head is flowing more air than they can get fuel to. They are going to make sure the fuel pump is flowing properly as well. I trust this shop. They built two motors for a friend of mine...one of them a 195 RWHP superbike motor that he rode for two years(on the street) without a rebuild and a 180 RWHP motor that he still has. They also race AMA...a friend of mine races for them.

Are they seeing the A/F ratio flatten out? Or are they just running out of adjustment on the PC before power starts to tip over?

We seemed to run into a wall around 147RWHP with my 929, and I quit throwing money at it to go further. I always thought we were leaving HP on the table with fuelling even though the A/F was fine.

I didnt ask specifically but I beleive its the latter after chatting with them. They seem to think with the 8 injector control of the Bazzaz they can add more fuel at the appropriate times. Although I suspect the problem may be with the fuel pressure...I had to replace the fuel pump last year and I got a used one. I am going to call them shortly.
