Blue toofin it...

Okay, got these awesome chatterboxes from a really cool forum member here. And now I want to put music into both headset via bluetooth. Yes the chatterboxes are bluetooth capable. I have one of those Sony iPod blue tooth dongles. NOW, I have successfully sync'ed one headset, mine of course to the iPod. Attempting to sync the GF's but am not having any luck. Here are the questions

1. Can I sync her's without losing my sync?
2. Do I have to go through the process of attempting to re-sync both headsets at the sametime?

There are probably more but head is fuzzy at this hr.

More than likely you can only do one.

Yeah, that is being my experience with it so far.

Just have to invest in another bluetooth transmitter for the GF.

Send a message via AIM to SheepOfBlue
Check Sony as they are who would control the number of connections. I did not find anything one way or another

Not sure how it works with the c-box, but with the scala you join the BT device to the primary headset via BT, then the second headset is joined to the first.

Is the chatterbox you're using a rider/passenger kit or is it two separate bike to bike kits? that might have some bearing on it.

Also unless your helmet is quiet, for music you'll probably want to get some earbuds and stick em in your skull. Let the chatterbox handle voice communications and phonecalls or whatever over and above the buds.

-1 - No, odds are that simple sony BT transceiver is only designed for a single channel.

-2- It would be interesting, but unless all devices specify this as a property, it's likely not doable.

I've sync'd many BT devices to multiple other devices but I've never tried to get them to work simultaneously. Interesting.

I'll have to try that out and see what I come up with.

Have 2 devices in a piconet is very possible, the Zumo is a good example of this because as long as the Zumo is the master it's happy.

The problem here would be you have a dumb (read sony BT dongle) transmitter that only knows a predefined set of steps for pairing with a device capable of receiving A2DP. Once it pairs it does not care. In theory the A2 is a unidirectional data (whereas AVRCP is bidirectional) so you could map a second device to emulate the first one and if you could get it to get the same timesync, could assumedly broadcast sound to it.

However having two devices thinking they are 1 won't help you talk back and forth.

It is two separate bike kits but we can sit on the same bike and use them. Guy at C-box tried to tell me we couldn't do that. I told him the AGC circuits have to be able to handle that level of closeness cause what if you are next to somone at a red light, its more or less the same distance then reminded him that 2 watts was approx 31 dBm and reall wasn't all that much to dealing with. He passed me to someone else.

ANYWAYS... Will get the GF a cable to go from her iPod to her "unit". If he wants BT she can get herself one, then we can use the cable for intercom.

OH back to the chatterbox people. I asked them if they ever considered putting a "charging LED" on the units. Guy said they have been trying for yrs to get something like that on the units. I also suggested having a voice command or at least a verbal indication of what mode you are in while pushing buttons. Kinda hard to tell what mode you are in while under the helmet and this thing is on your chin. Oh you are going to love this. There is a mode called MELODY. Ya know what this is for? When you pushe the mode button, it makes a BEEP in the headset. Oh wow, OH wow, OH WOW. Why not just make that standard and let it be?

Good tales

My Scala has a 'feature' that if you're talking with the passenger at speed (requiring ample volume to cover the vox obviously) and a call comes in, if you time your speech right -you'll answer the call and give the caller the second half of your (to passenger) sentence.
Then you have to press another button to bring the passenger back into communications.

It makes it interesting...
