help wanted!! what video camera setup should i get

hey all, i want to capture some good quality video from my bike rides. want something that captures the speedo and scenery easily in one shot and perhaps an independant microphone to reduce wind noise.
what is available at a good price?

Also I use my cam a lot but be careful about pointing it at your speedo for street use. Even riding at a moderate pace (which we all should) there is the occasional 'moment' and consider that the cam is gathering evidence

    Some places:
Hoyt Technologies: Helmet Cameras, Helmet Cams: Helmet Camera Kits (NTSC & PAL) I have a cam from them. Not impressed with the mount but the 520 line cam is great and the mics decent (PAL offered)

Product Listing - HelmetCamera_Kits I had a cam but it died in a crash at the track. The cam was decent though the new ones are far better on color balance an resolution. Their mount is tough, still using it.

Helmet Camera and Helmet Cam Accessories by Sportzshot I know nothing about them.

One problem that now is cam to recorder interface. Used to be get a camera with LANC and go. However now the cameras with LANC (a remote) is headed to zero. DVD and HD cams are getting popular and won't survive the high vibration environment. Solid state is the upside. They used to be toys but are progressing very nicely. One that is interesting to me is: Untitled Document sold at OnBike.TV Helmet cameras and accessories for onboard video recording.
Really nice specs and looks sturdy (PAL compatible).

All those are stateside though and a local manufacturer will likely save you $$$. Most cams are using the Sony chip and are either 380/480/520 with various claims of higher res than 520 that are using the 520 chip.

There is a review of a Viosport on the site also.

    Or you could do this

Just a random dump of thoughts hope it helps some.

    I like the VIO set-up a lot.

I had an issue with the lens, but my free replacement wide-angle lens should be here tomorrow or Thurs. Hoping to have some footage by this weekend to share.

The files probably will be too big to post here. Options for posting so that I can give you guys a sample with decent video quality?
If you think that loud pipes save lives, imagine what learning to really ride that thing could do.

Either very small time or less quality. I usually dial mine back a long way from full res
