    Chain Cleaner

Turns out that a Braun Advance Power electric toothbrush makes a great chain cleaner.

    Don't tell my wife.

I'll stick with WD40, thank you. I also got some Motul chain cleaner that's pretty nice, too.

I still used WD40, I just scrubbed it on (and the old wax off) really well with the toothbrush. I actually used a little WD40 and mostly Finish Line EcoTech degreaser. It doesn't have any harmful odors, is environmentally safe, and worked as well as the WD that I normally use. I'm going to make a permanent switch just because I think it is easier on my lungs.

In addition, the chain lube residue on the toothbrush makes it difficult for bacterial plaque to stick to your teeth.

Just in case anyone was wondering...

As long as you put it back exactly as your wife left it on the counter, she'll be none the wiser.

    @ maxib.

Bad for your lungs? Doesn't everybody use WD40 for the smell?!

I've never done anything like that in my life.

A couple of days ago my wife caught me putting the newly-ported Duc heads though a dishwasher cycle to ensure all the metal shavings were gone. That was a difficult discussion.

I've washed so many parts in the kitchen sink over the year. I wash my current bike in the tub. I take off all of the plastics and clean them up in the bath tub. My wife just rolls her eyes every time I come in the door carrying my "bike."
