1/5 turn throttle
(Not sure if this is the right forum)
Anyway, was thinking about putting a 1/4 turn throttle on the bike. But first, I plan on sticking a spacer to pull the slack out of my 1/5 turn and "transition" slowly to a 1/4 turn (i.e tighten it up for a couple track days via the spacer, then make the switche to the actual 1/4 turn). Any insight/experience/thoughts on the subject? Your musings are appreciated in advance! |

Why do you want to go to a slower throttle? You would need to turn the throttle 90-degrees to get what you are now getting in a 72-degree twist of the wrist.
If it is for a snatchy throttle, you will see some benefits from getting the slack out of the throttle cable.

Your ZX doesn't already have a quarter turn? Most modern sportbikes are nearly so.
A 1/5th turn is "faster" and harder to use in some ways (though I love them).

So, my topic should read, 1/4 throttle going to a 1/5 throttle, thoughts on that. Last edited by MotoVegas; 02-22-2008 at 05:03 PM. |

Yeah, just do it.
Don't mess with spacers or tension. Install it properly and use it.Be sure to tell people you loan the bike to though.

I LOVED my 1/5th on the 600RR. Must have mod, IMO.

The hot set up on the SV was a R6 throttle tube which was 1/5 turn and cost $11.00 versus the $135 for the one Yoyodyne sells. Maybe there's an inexpensive option like that for your Kawi.
I have less than half the HP of your ZX-10, so be careful.. Actually, I bet you'll get used to it quickly.
