Mine gets changed after every race weekend, and I've confirmed that I won't have any warranty issues.

I did just buy some brake pads for the bike. There aren't many aftermarket options available, and the Ducati pads were so impressive that I decided to go with the OEM's. I misunderstood the price when I ordered them. I thought the price was for a full set of four pads, which would be about double what I've been paying for the Galfers I use on the 600. Nope. That was the price per side, or two pads. Total price for the set - $291.00. I've decided to do less braking and carry more corner speed. I can't afford to use up the pads so quickly.

Those thoughtful Ducati folks - They'll do anything to help you squeeze out that extra bit of speed.

I'm a poor student. If I end up with a Ducati I might have to resort to dragging my feet to stop and reserve the brakes for special occasions and weekends.

Actually, doesn't the "S" have the Monobloc calipers? The 848 doesn't have the monobloc calipers but something a step down the Brembo line. Maybe pads are cheaper for them? I'll have to research this.

The Ruckus has more "style" anyway. Will it wheelie?

$50 a week around here if you donate twice a week. $20 for the first of the week, $30 for the second. It would take a lot of plasma. I've given a lot and I've drawn a lot from others. It's crappy no matter which side of it you're on.

Re: New for '08

On the picture of the front wheel in Post #40 why do the Brembo's have two lines coming in?

Also do you think it would be a simple (yet expensive) bolt on affair to upgrade to the Monobloc calipers from the 1098S?

That line more than likely feeds the caliper on the other side. The problem with that setup is you can get air trapped in the "hump" over the fender, unless you remove the opposite caliper and hold it higer while bleeding.

I'm not sure if the calipers are interchangeable

Probably, Ducatis radial bolt spacing is the same on all their bikes I know about, 108mm.

108 or 110? I thought 108 was race-kit spacing, and 110 was what I had the 999?

Re: New for '08

Well I'm going to have to get a new insurance company if I make the switch to a Ducati. They didn't have the 848 in the system yet so I had them quote a new 749 and they wanted $2600 a year for low coverage and a $1000 deductible. I currently pay $800 a year for my bike.

Re: New for '08

Sweet, thanks. I actually went down to the local dealer today. They said their first two are supposed to be here in December but both are sold. I sat on the 1098 just to make sure it's what I want. The seat is higher, harder, more uncomfortable, the clip-ons are lower, and the rear seat will probably make my wife swear...it was perfect. Now I just have to find someone who will insure it for under $2.5K a year.

Ducati used to offer insurance to Ducati owners at really good rates - May still, would be worth checking.
