WHo came first? Top gear or Fifth gear because obviously someone is ripping off someone else's idea/format.

The guys from Top Gear left the station they were on and started Fifth Gear, IIRC, on a different station.

Re: 1098 vs. Lamborghini Gallardo (Fifth Gear)

Top Gear is a BBC show. 5th Gear is on a commercial station, 5.

On TV - Fifth Gear

Tiff Needell and Vicki Butler-Henderson were both on Top Gear when it was a more traditional format a few years back. The BBC were going to drop the programme so Clarkson and others came up with their "put the fun back into motoring" style, recruited Hamster (previusly a presenter on a bike programme on a cable/satelite channel) and James May. Huge success over here. Even folk that hate motoring still love the programme. And Hamster has become into the housewives favourite bit of top totty.

Tiff and his chums are doing their best to emulate Top Gear but it just doesn't quite make it.

BTW have you seen the Top Gear episode where May and Clarkson attempt to drive to the North Pole, whilst Hamster goes on a sledge. Very funny and a bit scarey.

Re: 1098 vs. Lamborghini Gallardo (Fifth Gear)

Did my first trackday on that circuit, 1997, on a CBR600FV. Thought I was a track god. Truth is, I was rubbish. Clueless. Still am.

Seem to recall it was bumpy as hell. Not good for racing Lambos.

Shit no I can't, I'd be damn near leg humping the thing on a daily basis for the first few months. Is it true that after a full termi system these guys are getting 160+ to the rear wheel? There is a video on Youtube where they take a stock S on the dyno and get 145 RWHP, then add the full termi system, ECU, and filters, then get 162. I watched that with this expression on my face.

When? I've been thinking about that. It's a lot easier for me to pick up a Jap bike, then slowly get it to the S level over a 1-2 year period. And by that I mean cans, ecu/pcIII, full Ohlins, rearsets, clip-ons, the works. Paying for it all at once, damn! I talked to the dealer and the '08 s models won't be showing up until October and I'm pretty sure the first few allocations will go quick and for full pop. + I'm waiting on a few financial things to happen before I buy anything large. The band I open for played for 80k on Sunday in Austin @ ACL, and are playing on Conan O'Brien next month. They have resisted all corporate offers so far but they'll cash in at some point. They are the biggest unsigned band in N/A right now so it's only a matter of time. I'm hoping I have no more than 6 more months of working before I get to go back to music full time. If that happens I'll be picking one of these up within days of that happening. My 2nd family is also expecting huge dividends to pay out from investments soon which will see the end of me paying a mortgage. Short answer is within a year. It'll take me that long to square things away financially for that bike to be in my garage barring these previously mentioned events unfolding. I'm fiending though. It's been a year since I've been on a bike and I'm starting to go nuts. And it doesn't help that I'm starting to lust after a 20k Bologna machine. I know one thing though I bet that is the best damn bike and the most fun you've had on 2 wheels. I can only imagine 160 to the rear wheel via Vtwin power. I just don't want another inline 4
