My 1992 Superlight
Bought this in 1999, sold in 2002. One of the early ones, which came with the Marvic magnesium rims and white powdercoated frame. I only did a few mods, preferring to keep it mostly stock.
Corbin seat, Nichols flywheel and Ti engine bolts. Like my Aprilia RS250 Biaggi, it's one of those bikes that I wish I had kept, but being a responsible family man I can't get too crazy with multiple bikes...and I needed a fast track bike running our schools, so this bike went away so I could pick up a Formula Extreme spec 929RR that came available.

Re: My 1992 Superlight
That is one of the most desireable Ducati bikes ever made, I would LOVE to have one
![]() I saw one at Deal's Gap a few years ago, they definitely stand out from the standard 900SS/SP |

Re: My 1992 Superlight
Ah, a Superlight. They're hard to find. Not that many made? I love that style of Duc.
I've gotta get some elbow grease going and really clean up my '95 SS SP this Spring.

Very nice bike. Seems like you're into Italians uh? How's the reliability thus far?

Re: My 1992 Superlight
I bought it for $8K, sold it for $8500. It should be work $10K now if the owner kept it pristine, or $6K if it's rougher. 2v Duc reliability is awesome. No hiccups or problems, and engine maint. is affordable (compared to the 888SPO).
I view my bikes as secondary to business needs. I need to hire an extra employee before I'm otherwise ready, it costs me a bike. Or I really need to capitalize some expansion, some toy has to go. I always have a backup VFR or CBR as a daily driver. Only problem is that years later I miss them.

Re: My 1992 Superlight
Is the Superlight the twin 2 valve engine? I thought it was a different engine, a single or something? How does it differ from my '95 SS SP?

Re: My 1992 Superlight
Same 2v engine as the 900SS-SP. The various goodies on the Superlight brought it in at 370 lbs dry (31 lbs lighter than the SP)

Re: My 1992 Superlight
Concur, beautiful.
Here's mine, a 1994 that I purchased (wrecked) and planned to restore but gave up and "did it my way" with paint, an overbore, keihin carbs and other various pieces. I can't get enough of these motors. Absolutely love em. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y80...4/IMG_0562.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y80...4/IMG_0566.jpg My next mission was to get one of these until the 1098 came along: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y80.../MIMG_5840.jpg BTW: Name's Craig and I live in Japan. Look forward to the 1098 reports!

Re: My 1992 Superlight
Craig - Welcome! We look forward to you telling us about life in Japan. My son lived in Okayama for a couple of years, where he rode a 50cc yamaha scooter. I'm sure he would have preferred a Duc or 2..
