old but new to me 916
I had the opportunity to buy an old Factory Corse 916 racebike from Ferracci. I go back a while with Ferracci in that he built the engines for the 916 I raced in the mid to late 90's and I always lusted after his factory bikes - they had all the goodies...His shop is about an hour from my office. The bike dynoed out at about 165 rwhp - certainly not mind blowing, but in a 355 lb bike, not bad I guess.
I've been out of riding and racing since the end of 1998 because of hip problems and some life changing events, but now I'm going to do a few track days and some Ahrma BOT races.... I picked it up yesterday and boy oh boy do I love to sound and feel of the bike... I love the Pi telemetry system on it too - not that I'm fast enough for the system to make any difference in my lap times, but the bike is very cool, nonetheless see you on the track somewhere - maybe... |

Re: old but new to me 916
Sweet!
Does it have an on-board starter? I helped a neighbor in the pits start his ex-Ama Duc Stupidbike with the starter you put on the rear wheel several times at a trackday years back...

Re: old but new to me 916
no starter - Ferracci showed my wife how to use one of his Superbike starters and we gave it a try after we got the bike home - she's a natural with it and a very hot wife too! I'm sure some of my buddies will help at the track when they see her tooling up behind the bike though.

Re: old but new to me 916
oh - I forgot the best part --- my garage smells great again...
I missed the smell of Ferracci's race fuel.... it's wonderful walking out into the garage and getting a whiff. |

Re: old but new to me 916
Feracci's race fuel? Does he use VP U4?
Any machine that burns race fuel does have a nice smell.
