Thanks for the writeup. It's certainly not something I needed to read. I find it very interesting that the suspension is so stiff. Europeans aren't typically referred to as 'lardy' like people in the US. Maybe the Euro version has softer springs?

Glad you like it, and I hope you have many safe and happy miles on it.

I went and fondled an 848 at the Ducati dealer in Charlotte this afternoon. I left my riding gear at home but part of me regrets it since they had a demo I could've taken out. My wallet however greatly appreciates the fact. I would've had a hard time walking away from the dealership without signing some papers. I love the bike - now I just need to find a way to afford one. Anybody want to buy a kidney?

Excellent review. That stock sound is sweet isn't it. A good riding friend bought an 848 this summer after experiencing the Ducati presence at the Utah WSBK's. He is totally and completely smitten with the thing. Understandable eh?

Good call on not riding it. My test ride has me dying of the 'wants.'

Definitely agree on the stiff suspension. WAY overkill for my 145 pounds.

Fortunately I had the break in service done on Friday (now at 1100 miles and counting!), at the same time I had the Termi slipons installed and an Ohlins 25mm cartridge kit.... now the front end is amazing... but the bigger bumps make the back of the bike shoot me out of my seat a little bit!! Hopefully the TTX will be coming in soon...

How much adjustment is that ride height bar supposed to give you? Can it lower the bike a significant amount?

Hmm, I'm not sure but I believe it will give around an inch of adjustment (so +/- 0.5" from stock)... or about that. I'll keep you posted, I plan to start with the stock rear ride height and make small adjustments till I'm happy...

Bear in mind, a mm adjustment on the ride height bar will give much more at the rear axle...
