Ducati Hypermotard

Seems like it could be in store within a few months in two different version, regular and "S".
"S" would upgrade to better shocks and brakes with the same motor and frame. I think it's beautiful. I hope I'm not ruining anyone's plans.

For what, an early retirement?

Re: Ducati Hypermotard

We saw a pre-production model at the bike show. It was stunning, but it was just sensory overload at that point. There was so much 1098, 1098s, and 1098 tricolore eye candy there that I nearly missed the $65,000 desmosedici.

Well, that too. But I was referring to someone in this forum pre-ordering a bit of an expensive, Italian, Super Motard toy. From the looks of it, I like it better than the Aprilia, and at 95 horses it should be very fun. Now it only has to prove itself worthy.

Re: Ducati Hypermotard

The Aprilia and this bike aren't in the same ballpark. The aprilia is a racebike with lights, whereas the ducati is more of a street-oriented fun to ride bike.

I was debating trading in my tuono on a hypermotard, but now I am undecided.

Re: Ducati Hypermotard

The hypermotard and tuono are very similar, with the hypermotard looking better but the tuono performing better(especially the extra 2 grand I have invested in it). After crunching the numbers the difference in the two bikes would not be enough to justify the hit I would take on the tuono. The tuono is a great bike that I got a great deal on and am happy with, so why mess with that?

... and the new tundra with the doublecab and 5.7 starts at $28k. The few grand I keep in my pocket with staying with the tuono may go towards a downpayment later in the year.

I see your point. Your bike looks very nice. The mufflers, Akra right? sound and look awesome. The bike as a whole is vedy vedy nice .

Your right on the Aprilia being a race bike with blinkers. Awesome bike among awesome bikes, no doubt.
This duc just looks better IMO since looks is what Ducati is best at thus far, with some notable exceptions. Hopefully this one will have the performance and reliability to back its looks.

I put the Duc more in the category of the KTM 950SM. A really cool looking bike, to be sure, but I want something that's more of a nasty toy - lightweight, flickable, wheelie-prone, with a bit of a snarl. I'm trading longer-ride comfort and range for pure, short-range track and road fun.

I had the feeling you'd say something along those lines... and I would do that too if I could afford it.

Re: Ducati Hypermotard

I just saw one at the Chicago bike show yesterday, (pics in another thread) and it looks very nice. I also saw the Tuono in the Aprilia area, wtf is up with the gold frames?

Re: Ducati Hypermotard

Ducati released the pricing for the hypermotard today.

Standard HyperMotard: $11,495
HyperMotard S: $13,995

Soup :: HyperMotard Pricing Released :: 02-14-2007

Less expensive than I would have thought, I guess the thinking that priced the 1098 within a few bucks a month of a Japanese superbike is carrying through the line.

Re: Ducati Hypermotard

I saw that. Man for that price, it's a pretty tempting, "upper pay scale" hooligan commuter.

Re: Ducati Hypermotard

Just in case the Hypermotard was a bit too pedestrian, even in "S" form:

Motorcycle Daily

I can think of a lot better things to spend $66,500 on though...
