748 assistance please

Going to look at this tomorrow *DUCATI 748 BIP*

Anything I should look at closely or ask of the now owner?

Fine by me but, you will have to ask the owner. This isn't for me. Ducs are nice to look at but, don't want the maintenance bill.

There were some models that had flaking rocker arms. Can't remember if it was the 748 or 749, or both...

I'd maybe throw out a question as to why he felt the need to have the service done at 4500 miles instead of 6000. Was there a problem or is he just peculiar like that?

Hondagaltoo is correct. I use to own a 2000 748 Bip and 4 of the 8 rockers went bad costing me about $900. I would just look it over very good. The valves should be done every 3,000 miles so I would for sure ask about that and all the other scheduled maintenance. You can generally tell what you are buying by the condition it is in. If you look at it and see that the chain is rusty/dirty then this is a good indication of how it was treated. Good luck, you will love it!
