My FIRST Busa work done myself...
well I got it done... reading the service manual that was so nicely provided by Greg Smithabusa in his launch and shift light CD helped...
but I did not have a large enough allen wrench to use on the bike's right side so I improvised and used a wrench (size 12 I think) and inserted it into the opening and used my robogrip pliers to turn it and unscrew the swingarm pivot shaft out far enough to get ahold of it by hand to unscrew the rest of the way ... a buddy is gonna bring me the correct tool when we get the shorter swingarm so that we can get the correct torgue on it... otherwise no problems... (luckily I found a local auto place that had the 36mm deep socket and breaker bar or I would not have been gettin this puppy off) the chain did not have to be cut - it had a master link that could be removed and I'll ofcourse wait to shorten it once we get the other swing arm on.. in the mean time I also changed out my rear sprocket while the wheel was off... and will do my brake pads as well... I'm considering putting a new rear shock on there.. it's just the stock one right now... what's ya'll thoughts on what to go with for an upgrade? and why... poor baby is nekkid and got her intrails danglin.. LOL... here's some pics for ya... Me fixin to get started.... the ever so popular before pic LOL... all the bodywork is off and at the painters... my dirty hands.... fun fun fun... my baby without her swing arm and danglin parts in a bowl... lol... I put a large eye hook in the ceiling of my garage to one of the rafter joists and used my hoist from deer season and put the bike on a front fork stand and just raised her a tad and it worked great! the swing arm off the bike... my newly installed rear sprocket... now watch for the soon to be posted results of my installin the launch and shift light from Greg Smithabusa E. oh BTW WHO THE HELL TIGHTENED THAT REAR SHOCK ON THAT SWINGARM>>> man I had to stand on the wrench to loosen that bitch.... |

Re: My FIRST Busa work done myself...
hahaha me and my damn long ass fingers ... shit... next time they are getting photoshopped
yeah work in progress... shortening it up.. not getting enough weight transfer to the rear wheel at 68" and I'll be damn if I'm gonna gain weight to make up the difference LOL... gonna be either 64" or 66" (swappin out with another racer) F.. hmm.. that's not good.. was hopin to get that sweet deal on a custom set of Kushtani's as a one peice for dragracin with my colors Red.. thank you sweets.. hey now that just maybe fun! hahaha. wonder how it would hook up on the straight away? but uhm I'd rather not take turn one doing 150mph what is the distance of the straight away?IF any of ya'll are interested ya should come out to US131 even if to just visit... these fellas with the drags sound like their lil community is alot like Fireblades.. or is it MCA now?? hahah... too many changes for me to keep up with LOL I'm def gonna make at least one day for the June event.. jsut gotta be able to work it out with work on which day.. it will most likely be my last folks.. so I hope to be there to say my farewell to the roadcourse... ![]() as for the straight away.. Hun if you square it away with Sam I'll bring the busa out to play.. I take it the area where the ambulance crew sits was the staging lanes then? as for makin more than one day... I don't know.. I won't be able to afford to pay for 3 trackdays and miss work with all the entrance fees I'm gonna be shellin out for racing... E. |

Did you try adjusting the rear suspension? Softening it up would and could have made a world of difference. Then again, on the Turbo Busa we have shortened it back to a 60" wheelbase. It sucks to hit 170MPH and have the rear tire spin on you. I don't think an 8.3 ET with a spinning rear tire is bad at all. It's terrifying for the rider though. |

Re: My FIRST Busa work done myself...
yup raised the spring by an inch ... still don't squat much when I sit on it lol
bottom setting all the way to the left and 1 click to the right to allow for quicker compression.... top setting left as it was to keep the rebound slow... it was originally set up for a 250 lb fella... that helped but still spun when I hit full throttle by the tree.. changed my rear sprocket as well to help and we are gonna lower the chasis some more... I'm lookin at possibly puttin an aftermarket rear shock on her while it's taken apart.. but not sure what to go with.. usually I've always heard Ohlins Ohlins Ohlins.. so not sure.. it's not fun as it is to spin at 100 mph when upshifting ... couldn't imagine at 170 ... but one day I hope to see that MPH in the qtr.....
