Drag Race School with Ricky Gadson
I just read a blurb about this.. is it well known to everyone else?
The 2 day school costs $1095 if you want to use their ZX-14 or $895 if you want to use your own bike. It's in NJ and will also be in NC later this year. If you progress to "full throttle runs" (Which I've had after a bad dinner in a Mexican restaurant,) you can get an AMA/Prostar license. If you get in the 9's, that will count toward your NHRA licensing. I don't know which is better.. but I bet it's hard to do a burnout when you can only get one foot on the ground. Some of you 'busa or ZX guys ever think about this? Come on, I know you're out there.. let's hear from you! Sportbike Zone

I have some lowering links for an SV if you really want to do it.

Re: Drag Race School with Ricky Gadson
I think in my case the extra $200 would probably enhance the experience..

Re: Drag Race School with Ricky Gadson
I've thought about taking a class.. luckily I've had the pleasure to have alot of good advice from a good freind who raced Prostar but nothing beats the handson in person training these pros can give you..
I went from runnin 9.2's on a stock motor busa to 8.6's on same stock motor with a small progressive dry shot of NOS and hope to be in the 7's next year with an RCC Turbo set up... I have my IHRA license but will most likely go for my NHRA license as well since most of the local tracks out here in IL are NHRA not IHRA.. E. |

So, did they time it?

Re: Drag Race School with Ricky Gadson
If I recall correctly my best run was about 10.5
My reaction times were pretty awful - 0.7 or thereabouts. I blame a childhood bereft of video games. |

Re: Drag Race School with Ricky Gadson
This brings up something.........Seems like drag racing experience could help in road racing, mainly with the starts. Just a thought.

Re: Drag Race School with Ricky Gadson
I've had the same thought. I'm hoping to get a few launches on the strip this summer just for that reason.

Re: Drag Race School with Ricky Gadson
I used to bring the 954 to IRP on Tuesdays and run on street legal night. I think that helped me on launching the bikes, being able to feather the clutch and hold the throttle at 7k takes some practice.

hard to be consistant too with how you feather it... this is why I was talked into going with a lock up.. you adjust the arms so they feather your clutch for you.. all you do it dump the clutch and go... Most have a fear of just dumpin the clutch and find it hard to get out of the habit of feathering it.. I was easy to switch over to just dumpin it ![]() I've heard about folks going to the dragstrip just to practice their launches for roadracing and say it does help... Only thing I can see would be to be cautious with rear tire spin because most drag bikes have very low PSI in their Rear tire.. anywhere from 8 - 12 psi.. obviously roadracin bikes will have much higher psi so if you truely want to practice for the road course take off.. practice with your higher psi and don't adjust for dragracing like the others at the strip ![]() Shenders... wish I had been able to run at Milan this past summer I tried twice but got rained out... will def be there some next season... I'll be sure to post up my schedule when I get it figured out and maybe we can meet up there... you had some good times on your 929... I was gettin 10.2 on my 929 after runnin it for fun for a few years between roadracin... stock bikes are way harder to run good time with than those set up with all the lil tricks for the dragstrip... ![]() E.
