Define "amateur" riders trying to beat the show's fast lap. Since they made the comparison, Top Gear pits amateur drivers (celebrities) against like amateurs.

Any idea what channel it's going to be on?

Looks Canadian. Like those guys know anything about speed / being fast.

Canadians are fast but I think it's because of the exchange rate. One Canadian lap is equal to 1.5 US laps.

What a load of crap. "The red flag means somebody's hurt and they need to get the ambulance out there right now" (They have an ambulance flag for that) . . . . This looks like someone read 2 blogs about trackdays and decided to make a TV show . . . .

Yeah, the flag is wrong. Define amateur. AMA privateer? Then again I can't see anyone decent wasting their time with it. It could be interesting, but just seems kind of weird. Better than Nascar I guess.

Hey guys, Andy#180 here! Great to see all your statements of support and various critiques of the HOT LAP TV show.

As many will point out, it takes the whole rider community to pull off this kind of grand adventure, and it is no small undertaking.

We have spent 3 years developing this show to be 'for amateur riders, by amateur riders' and on screen hopefully that translates into 'you can do it too'. It's a basic premise of the show, to teach street riders to get to the track, and hopefully increase the awareness of all the great tracks around the country, and grow the attendance in general across all track facilities, industry wide.

Since our first public announcement last week about the launch of the production, we are getting hammered with requests from media, plus getting plenty of traction on rider forums across many US and Canadian regions for our casting call, and thanks for your help getting the word out in this effort - because it's working!

So, this is a quick hello from me and the cast, and a special thanks to your members for picking up this story. If any of your riders want to fire questions to me, I will do my best to answer all inquiries on your public board for everyone's benefit!

*FYI - My brother Steve#321 is also hovering around here somewhere on the board - for the record, he is faster than me - but he crashes more often, so in theory I should win!

**Oh - and here's a piece of exclusive insider trivia knowledge for you guys, we are looking to build out a 600, 636, 750 & 1000 for the show, each guy riding a different CC to even the challenger odds, your time & CC against the comparable time & CC. Stay tuned!

Got it - Valid critique. Here's the answer, the flags we run on lapping days are simplified for beginners - We use the red as a general "get the f**k off the track" on short track circuits because there is a problem that requires immediate ambulance response, or may require it based on the rider not indicating he is a-ok. On longer tracks it's a "pull over to the next marshalling station". There are ambulance, debris and various other flags in use on event days at other circuits, but for simplicity we use black, red, yellow, debris & checkered on lapping days, keeping in mind for beginners you need to keep it simple. We've observed this usage on most lapping days we've attended so it has become our default set-up. Therefore, "Always listen at the local track day riders meeting for flag specific instructions at each facility" is the catch-all statement, 'take home pay' here. A.

Thanks admin! It's an all consuming fire right now, but isn't everything in life worth doing that way?

*lol* Yep, long lost uncle George Bernard for those into literary culture.

I am sure he is in the family tree, I look just like the guy if I grow a scraggly beard! ha ha ha ...

You'd have to know our Canadians. When they aren't drinking they are pretty fast. Actually they might be really fast because of the drinking. Either way, they are a hoot.

Good luck, and welcome to the site.

"Our Canadians" :rotfl: Yep, they are usually fast and hungover . . . .
