I could have just taken over the FJR, but honestly riding it in 100 degree temps has made me a little wary about purchasing a Sport-touring bike that I have been wanting for so long. Your nads just roast, and it seems to be a real problem that doesn't have a simple fix. I was ready to pull the trigger on a ST1300 and keep reading about the same heat issues. Well, after sitting on the ST1300, FJR1300, and the Goldwing, I let me crotch do the voting. GL1500 it is. Plus I got a really good price on a well maintained bike with all of the options available that year.

Well, sitting here in Austin, and after watching my Dad pick up a 07 Goldwing and riding it, I decided that I would do the same. He's keeping his FJR1300, and I still have the trusty ole 929. But I just picked up a 97 GL1500 and am in the process of customizing it to my liking. I have been taking quite a bit of shit from my wife and kids about this purchase, and the old fart jokes just never seem to end, but out here in central Tx this is one of my favorite purchases. I can ride a hundred miles to go eat BBQ, and come home without feeling like I was stuffed in a barrel. The CBR is still fun to ride, but you hit a certain distance from home, and things start to ache and cramp up. (Continued above)

Well, I m taking my show on the road. I am moving from California out to somewhere north of Austin to go live on the range. I am cutting my expenses since we have almost all of our kids raised and out of the house, and am also getting the chance to help out my Dad, who owns the property. He can now spend more time out riding his FJR1300 and not have to worry about being home by 5 to feed the cows. It's a win-win situation for all of us.

Bouquet Canyon, Stunt Hill, Mulholland Hwy, Lake Hughes road, I will miss you all. To all my friends I am leaving in Cali, this just means that you have a place to stay if you are in central Tx.
