Where does it go? I know there are unread posts in a particular thread... how come it doesn't show up sometimes?

It only shows up if there are posts in the thread that you haven't read.

Yup, I understand that. But many times it doesn't show up when there are new posts, the title is bold and the last poster is different than the last one I saw.
 Its not a big deal, I was just wondering... |

You aren't nuts. Happens to me at least once a day. Most of the time it works but there is a little bug somewhere.

Don't really know the answer, honestly. The software remembers the last posts you've read via pointers in the database but it's a simple on/off setting with an option for how long to remember last read post. It's set to 30 days at the moment. There's likely a bug in the software somewhere.
