10 Seconds Between Searches
Is there a business reason to keep this? I often click on a New Topic, read the latest post, then am ready for the next. I hit the 10-second rule (no snickering about my sexual prowess) often.

Yes. Too many queries too frequently and the server goes BOOM.
As an alternative, instead of hitting New Posts or Today's Topics every time, you can hit the back button to go back to the list of threads that still have new posts you haven't read.

No. But it would be very easy for someone that doesn't like us to keep clicking either of those buttons and bring it down. It'd be like a DOS attack.
