Re: Buell 1125R first ride - MD

Buell is doing a track day at MMP in a week where one can pay $150 and ride the full course on a new Buell.
Of course, they are reserving the 1125R rides for current Buell owners.

Too bad, I would have actually come out of retirement and paid $150 to have a go on that thing - without hesitation.

Kinda unusual looking, but I could like it. I will be checking one out as soon as they hit the showrooms.

I am scheduled for the Buell Inside Pass day here in Tejas on October 23rd. BDA, where did you see the 1125r is reserved for current owners? Thats the main thing I am looking forward to.

Comes in any color you want. As long as that color is black.

Turns out that info was incorrect. In the days leading up to the event, that was the word on the local board.
Then the day of, one of them post up that Buell had in fact brought a whole truck full of them and the 1125r was available to all.

I should have checked into it myself rather than just accept the info posted as true.

Very strange, as I am accustomed to absolute truth posted by perfect minds and riders on forums.

In short, go and have fun riding the thing.

Yeah, I am really looking forward to it. The one here is only $100. Track time, demo rides, pictures, free t-shirt, and free pucks is a heck of a deal.

I did an Aprilia day that was similar in 2001. It was pretty cool actually.

Re: Buell 1125R first ride - MD

What a fantastic motorcycle! The smoothness of the engine and chassis combined with very effective front brake and slipper clutch make this an easy bike to go fast on. I got two sessions riding it in the intermediate group and even in the first session I was passing people riding their own bikes. The fairing is goofy wide but works very well. I had no buffeting at speed but my view may be off since I was coming off a bike with no protection. The rear end looks just like the XB series and a couple times I was behind one in a turn setting up to pass on the straight just to have it pull away from me, "oh that must be one of the new bikes."

It was a great experience and was to date the best trackday I have been on. Great weather, great organization, great food, and no red flags all day.

Would you trade your Tuono for one?

Straight up with no cash involved, absolutely. Now, trading mine in and then putting up another $6,000, no. The bikes are too similar in purpose to justify taking that financial hit just because I like one more.

Now if my tuono were to be abducted by aliens, I would go ahead and replace it with an 1125r.

Hmm. Now I am trying to justify it to myself.
