Looks better than the "R", though I have still yet to get on board with those massive air scoops. Call me crazy, but those things look like horse blinders! Otherwise, the CR is a cool concept.

I was looking at the pics and said to myself, "wow that thing looks great other than the ridiculous scoops." Then read down to your post. Yeah, something needs to be done there.

What is it with all the bulbous fairing-ery on the new Buells? The had the excuse of going for a 'quiet zone' on the sportbike version, but not on the standard.

It's to draw your attention from the muffler.

Fugly but if i ever bought a liter +bike i might go for it just cause it is american almost.

CBR 600 f4i will do till she hits 50k or so.

I was looking at a XB12r and the specs on paper look very competative with a jap 600. What holds it back in SS racing? I do like the looks for some reason. just no the thought of umm american reliability... i hate to say that oh and it costs more and only revs to 6800 or so, but it does get 65 mpg witch is way better than my F4i

I would certainly hope so. It has twice the displacement!

+10000.

It very much resembles the XB12R/S if you take away those stupid looking scoops. Do that, and I'd call it a handsome bike. It might not have the lines of the Speed Triple or a Monster or a Tuono, but I bet it could give them all a run for their money.

Repeater--I am not even a neophyte when it comes to racing, but I would guess that the XB12R only revving up to 6000rpm (not sure exactly) is likely a huge problem when presented with a long straight on tracks. That, and yes I'd bet that reliability once the 1200 Sportster engine starts getting flogged goes way down.

Well, on one hand you just gear differently to deal with the lower revs and just use the big torque. On the other hand, the Duc I test rode revs to 10,500 and it still seemed like I was always out of revs. At Grattan I just put my bike in 2nd gear and held it everywhere on the track except the straight. Having that HUGE rpm window to work with really simplifies things, it basically meant that anywhere from 50-93mph I had decent accelleration. That is missing on twins. I rode a friends Ninja 650R (inline twin) a couple nights ago, and while fun and torquey, it was always out of revs. It takes a complete reprogramming of shifting and technique to go fast on a twin.

Or maybe tank paniers if you are an adventure-tourer type.

I'm not sure how putting a fly screen on it gives it street-fighter credibility, but it looks like it could be a fun bike.

According to MCN this month, the 1125R is in need of a firm steering damper due to rake/trail/wheelbase geometry, but if you need to change the front sparkplug, you have to drop the engine.

Unless the plugs are good for 100,000 miles that right there is enough to make me forget about the R. I assume the CR is the same, but I could be wrong.

As I read it, the guts are the same. They updated some fueling issues in both the "R" and "CR", but otherwise, its the same Rotax mill from both.

And if I wanted to drop the engine just to change a plug, I'd buy a Ferrari.
