BMW bought Husqvarna.

It's been known for a few days, but legally, it's been finalized today.
Oh, the possibilities....!!!
That's all.

Hmmm, be interesting to see what develops. Always wanted a Husky. I am drawn to new supermoto series...

Seems like only a couple of new directors in the board will be changed. I've always loved their enduro bikes. Top notch. It'd be very nice if some Husky soul permeates into BMW...

Supermoto rocks. I know I'll end up there eventually.

Nice. Hopefully that means Husky parts availability through the BMW parts chain. I think a husky will be my next duel sport, a wider availability of parts will be nice.

Re: BMW bought Husqvarna.

I have liked Husky's since the first one I saw just before I got a license. Couldn't afford one then. The closest I've come to owning one was when mrsmaxib bought a Husqvarna Viking sewing machine.

No, really. It's a great machine and is now her #2 of 3 machines (different brands) and she says she'll never get rid of it. That says a lot to me about quality.

Back on topic. If BMW will sell Husqvarna in BMW showrooms, that means I might be able to finally get my Husky, as there is a Beemer dealer 20 miles from me!

Re: BMW bought Husqvarna.

I'm a little surprised - I thought BMW already had a sort of bike-sharing thing going with Aprilia. Perhaps that was a temporary solution.

In any case, we'd have to assume we'll eventually see Husky 4-stroke singles showing up in BMW-branded motards, right? One doubts the sharing will occur in the other direction.

Re: BMW bought Husqvarna.

I would guess BMW has the marketing knowhow to understand the long history of Husky and not mess with the name. My guess is BMW is going to focus their dirt markert at Husky and quit trying to make dirt bikes out of adventure bikes.

A little Beemer engineering added to Husky's overall abilities will improve the breed.

It looks like BMW is set to make a splash in the dirt world with their G 450 X:

The HP2 is 20k 'stripped' , not that I'd want to take it on single track, but IMO it was all downhill after that.

Re: BMW bought Husqvarna.

When I was in SoCal the local dealer had one with two sets of wheels and other bits for $20k new.
