An addiction no rehab can cure
Sat on one today for the first time at the local dealership.
Loaded version, with all the electronics, quickshifter, etc.
Nice!
Tiny.
Impressive fit and finish.
Better looking in person than in photos.
The headlights still look dorky.
IF I were looking for the ultimate, almost-turn-key track bike, and wanted an inline four, it'd be difficult not to make that one the pick.
But I'm not.

What was the price tag?

Based on magazine prices? Just curious. When we went to the bike show I seen Honda 1k's with $14,000 tags on them (which obviously isn't right) Just wondering what the real world bring it home price was. I take it you've been looking?

Dude, you're gonna LOVE that bike. I assume you've sat on one? Any concerns about the size of it compared to, well, you?

Congrats! Look like you beat me to it. I was planning on waiting another 2 months or so. The dealer where I will most likely get mine from told me that all US bikes are currently being shipped with TC/ABS (which I would get anyway) and that would account for the price difference from the base $13,800. Did your dealer say the same?

Grats, Rageman! We should meet up for a ride this season.
You gonna mod it up?

Hey waitaminit! I'd buy one too, but there's an overriding mission this year.

What exactly do you mod a bike like that up with? Hello Kitty tank guard?

Well, a set of lifesaving pipes at the very least.
Frame and swingarm sliders... some tasty aftermarket bits will surely be showing up for that one. Put me down for some Helis.

Mostly just extra large aviator sunglasses and a fake beard so nobody recognizes you on the hideous beast.

It's still a moderm beemer, so 15k for a bike and 30k in the accessory catalog. You only thought you didn't need that 300$ CF plate mount

Since I'm getting so many PMs, I figure it's time to stop pretending I'm bwhip and come clean...
The bike isn't going to be mine, at least not on the title and not after May anyway. I'm facilitating the purchase for my good friend DoubleDan who is in Afghanistan doing the bidness...
I'll be picking up the bike from the dealer when it arrives and putting it in "rideable storage" until he returns. We're waiting for the bike to arrive at the dealer at which point he gets the paperwork and I cash this check in my wallet and go put a 100% down payment on the bike. Sometime in the next two weeks is the estimate. Just in time for the gravel to be washed off the road and the temps to rise
Soooo, back to the "who will be the first on the board..." question. He'll be the first to own one and I'll be the first to ride one through it's 6000 mile break-in period. At least, that's what I've told Dan the break-in period is anyway...
Since Dan and I are pretty much one person, I think that counts
edit: and he didn't want like the RWB so it's the silver one...
2nd edit: it sure was fun Being BWhip.

Silver is the color I'd go for.
I assume you're going for the ABS/Traction Control package? From what I hear it's almost a necessity if you're a normal human.
I haven't completely given up on ordering one myself....

Just so it isn't the green one - One of the magazine writers dubbed it 'nuclear baby poop.'
It's much less unconventional looking in the other color schemes.
-
I'm wiry
I'd have to spring for the rwb paint scheme.
Does BMW have a program for military purchases? I know several actives who bought Harleys through some discount program. (it obviously makes more sense for HD, but considering the amount of troops we rotate through Germany...)

Yep. Ein schnitzel mit alles, bitte. I'm really interested in seeing how it all came together myself.

Yeah, but those programs are only available when you're overseas. Through the official military programs (AAFES), the requirement is that the vehicle be "made in the US" so, H-D, Jeep, GM, etc are available.
BMW, MB, etc have programs available through local host nation dealers.

Hey, what's the gas mileage of this thing, anyway?

Colour wouldn't matter if I bought one... it would have primer-white skinz on it before the first tank of gas was burned.

I guess it doesn't look all that bad with all the hideous street crap stripped off and given to the Ugly Gods as a burnt offering to drown the memories of how it looked in the showroom.
White skins, minimal striped graphics and a sandblasted, scuffed and clear coated frame.
Actually looks pretty good from my renderings.
Huh.
