Sorry I'm just mentioning this now LTL I have all versions of LWD/LWR and might be willing to loan em to someone if they are compelled to see this but don't really want the ownership experience.
Just make sure your dvd player will play avi or mp4.

It's Who You Know That Counts
Just finished LWD.
I am so friggin' amped I can't sleep.
I want to start LWR, except that I just got back from Japan yesterday, and if I stay up late, my clock will get all f'ed up.
Edit: Oh yeah, and I want an Akra slip on now (at least I think that's what they had).

It's not my fault
I thought it was Arrow
the Website says they were using Ohlins on the trip.

It's Who You Know That Counts
It might be Arrow.
They definitely started out with Ohlins. Two failed, both rears, and near the same spot. They replaced them with stockers.

If you liked LWD, you'll LOVE LWR. I preferred LWR - there seems to be a pureness of the "first journey" that was lost on LWD. LWD had a touch of BTDT with regards to support, etc.

Purpdust, you need one to do a Canada-to-Mexico (or further) run. While you're at it, get a video camera and document the trip!

Look on advrider for a used Akra, everyone parts with their slipons after a short time. Most go back to stock, or move to a full Remus system ( .).
I don't know who said it best, but someone related our exhaust note to sound rather 'agricultural' in nature . I think on LWD, some of the noise was just how the camera picks up the bike audio. I've noticed a few times I've had my GS on film (box stock pipe) it sounds relatively tricked, even though it's anything but, in person.

I believe the missus and me watched LWR in two nights, I cannot recall...because once we were done we watched LWD again, then flipped to LWR. It was a few weeks of practically memorizing the things
Charlie Boorman also did a show on BBC afterwards with Russ Malkin (no Ewan though he does Cameo once or twice) on transportation in general...its more of a non-Motorcyclists version of LWD. They are trying to go somewhere in another land and seeing how many different methods of transportation they can take to get there. Granted, they start out with Motorcycles, and Charley has a custom built for him that is pretty interesting
Can't find the name quickly but Im sure one of the UK mates on here will know it.

It's a feckin' boxer twin, in a big dirtbike, basically designed 8 decades ago, of course it sounds agricultural.
I want to keep the cat...
Watched the bits with the KTM denial a bit ago, brutal! That looked so terrible on-screen. I liked Ewan's face with an intense resolve, "They don't think we can do it."

If you think that loud pipes save lives, imagine what learning to really ride that thing could do.

Like BizJet said, LWR will definitely keep you up. It's MUCH better than LWD.

I started with LWD as I read LWR the book.
After a few episodes, already it is one of the few times where the film blows away the book. Stunning stuff.
The Mrs. called earlier and was upset I was watching without her...and oh yeah, I have clearnace to head out for a few months if I have a friend with me.
So, who's going? G-Force, let's start studying our Espanol!

And I believe AMA members get a service plan discount.
I've had my SPOT since May 2007 and like it for what it does. I especially like the tracking feature.

Mi Espanol es muy bien. You conosco "Mas cervesa por favor", y "Donde esta el cuarto de bano?" y " llano por favor, premium." Nada mas is necessario. Now getting a few months off...that going to be a problem, only one of us has a second income coming into the household

Beer, bathroom and petrol, that is about the necessities...other than the taco truck Spanish any self-respecting Californian knows of course.
Sort out that second-income part would ya?

My Bimmer dealer has them in stock; if you have one nearby, you could call them up.

'twas called "By Any Means"
Charlie is a proper bike rider, been at it since he was a kid. Ewan is a bit of a newbie.
I didn't really pick up on the whiney thing, but what the hell, back up crew or not, they still actually rode the bloody things around the world. Dair play to them.
BTW loved the bit in LWD when somewhere in Sudan or Kenya (dunno), bogged down in sand, when round the corner comes a fellow travelling the world by bicycle. Just pedalling away. Charlie and Ewan were suitably humbled.

Agreed - Ewan's response was classic. "How big of a pussy do you feel like now, Charlie?"

That was pretty great, exactly what my buddies and I would be saying.
I also wonder what, if anything, Charlie was saying into the mic after they ran into the guy on the KTM in LWD.
