    BMW's 'Uncrashable' Cycle

MCN stumbled on a BMW patent application that appears to be an attempt at the ultimate in electronic control.

The concept is pretty interesting, though the system contemplated by the BMW patent app seems overly complicated - Undoubtably they're trying to cover as many bases with the patent as possible.

Here's the link: Picture gallery: BMW's uncrashable motorcycle patent drawings - Motorcycle News - MCN?

    Truly 'Uncrashable'? Mmm...doubtful.

Wait, you mean the same company that has 4 completely different bolts to hold on the skidplate I need to take off for an oil change....would make something overly complicated? nah

Though they are not first to market with this idea of handlebars that move indepdently of the front wheel, the KLR's have done that for years.

Interesting idea, sort of like volvo's safety car with it's oversensorization.

Uncrashable? Interesting. Brings to mind a certain sea-going vessel that was unsinkable...that worked out well too if memory serves.

The way it sounds it would be like riding a slinky.

Agree with SSG - had a KLR a few years ago and the front end feedback was interesting to say the least. That's why they sell so many aftermarket fork braces.
