Not overly terrible like the ZX10, and as you know I was really keen on the new 1000RR when it was released. But, as typical of Honda of late, it turned out to be mid-pack at best when it came to racing. Well alright, one or two series it was best runner up, but nobody can make the dog be a consistent pointy end bike.
Great streetbike, though. Typical Honda. Just like in F1, total shit on a track.
At the club level where everything is closer to stock they're pretty good... in WSBK they don't have the support of the factory to keep up with the cheater Ducatis but I think the potential is definitely there. As far as AMA goes, nobody was gonna beat Mat and Ben on the Yosh Suzukis.
Don't get me wrong I'd love to see a no-compromises V4 Honda superbike but as it goes the 1000RR is still the best inline-4 litre bike out of the box. At least they had the balls to make it really, really ugly.

Oh, and HRC would have to somehow turn into a group of decent humans. I mean, they aren't quite down to democrat level, but they're nearly there.

Just went over to the 'Priller truck. It IS a factory, pics after the official unveil tomorrow at noon.

let's hope the swingarm and footrests on the production machine retain the beauty of the racebike.
I think we all hope for that.

The unveiling was cool, but not really spectacular. A whole mob of people around, so I left for ten or so minutes and came back. Most of the crowd was gone and I was able to get up close with it, sit on it, grope it, etc. Besides being drop dead gorgeous, it is tiny. Even smaller than the CBR. Pics when I get around to dumping the camera. Somehow a few pics of the model are on there too.
First impression when seeing and sitting on the uglier-than-Stegen's-ass BMW1000, aside from how hideous it looks, is that it is gigantic. Without it parked next to a GSXR, I'd say it's even bigger than that beast. And no Suzuki tent this year to try and guage it against.
The Aprilia, not so much. I wanted to wheel a CBR across the way from the Honda tent next to it, but figured it would cause an issue or two, but going between them, the RSV4 feels much smaller, much more proper race bike.
Daddy like, daddy want. Daddy just might get. Of course, not the first batch. They do have a history of first run engine issues. Talking with The Whip, he agrees that letting others get the busted bikes and then picking one up after the fix is a better idea.
Oh, and the guy across at the Honda tent was taken a bit aback when I asked him when Honda would grow a sack and build something like it.

Does the production bike have all the carbon fiber and beautiful welds?

There were a few carbon fiber bits, and the welds look alrighty enough.
Here are a couple side pics, dash pic, couple rear end pics.

I like the swingarm but the race spec one is cooler.
The race spec is the bee's knees.

If you are interested in this bike, but for various "responsible adult" reasons don't want to buy one, stay the hell away from Cathcart's piece on the RSV4 in this month's Sport Rider.
Oh yeah...and a 1200cc version is allegedly coming.
This bike might break my obsession with the Desmosedici.

Cathcart's article details the designer's comments on his pride in how small the rad is, indicating a very efficient engine design.
Considering the frontal area in the pic, I wonder if it's just really thin or something?

great looking, nice sounding bike-again from italy. Why cant the big 4 make a great looking bike anymore?
Because they spend their allowance making sure it will run for more than a couple of weeks at a time. And that parts will be available. Or dealerships, even...

To be fair, my MV was very solid, and parts availability was great too. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.
(And holy smokes, I sold that bike at the right time, they've been getting hammered by depreciation!)

Have you tried to find parts for your V4 lately?
