Good news. Just got the call (after several weeks) from the local dealer. Aprilia is going to replace my motor.

CAN CRUSHER
I was at the Chicago show this evening, and asked about the V4 at the Aprilia area. Some older Aprilia rep guy, we got to chatting about the bike and I mentioned it'll be interesting to see how it does in WSB next year. He looked at me funny and said it was in MotoGP, not WSBK, even mentioned Biaggi. I tried to mention WSB again just to make sure I heard him right, and he was still insistent that it was in GP. Rather than argue the point, I just walked off. I would think their people would be better informed about their own product.

You know, Aprilia makes some sexy stuff, but it's this crap that will doom the company. That and not being able to have parts come in on time.

Ever meet someone at one of these events in the States that really knows about both their bike product and their involvement with the sport of motorcycling? Rarely.
Good luck against Rossi this year, Biaggi!!!

Bah, I guess the thing that really got me was the "I know what I'm talking about and you don't know shit" attitude.

You should of messed with him, said something like:
"So, are they making a special 800cc RSV4?" to which he would of said "why do they need to do that" to which you say, "to comply with the GP 800 cc requirement" to which he would of carried on some more BS and you could of just fed him more and more as he dug deeper and deeper nonsense holes. Later, he goes back and asks someone about it, figures out you were right, and then also figures out you were making a fool of him at his expense precisely because of his know-it-all disposition.
Or, you could of gone a got a hotdog instead, which is more nutritious for your brain than his babble was.

I ran into one of those guys at the gun shop the other day. I said, "I'll take two boxes of that ammo." He said, "if you by that other kind you'll save some money." I said, "This is $10.99 a box for 50 rounds, that is $21.99 for 100 rounds, I'm saving a penny." When he couldn't do the math in his head he got a confused look on his face and then started in on how the other stuff was better ammo. I politely explained that I knew what shot well out of my gun and that I had indeed used the other stuff in the past with less than satisfactory results. He wasn't going to give up so I just took my ammo and ran.

I found this part really interesting.
“Factory” version we tested here has endless geometry adjustment possibilities . . . including steering head angle and offset, swingarm pivot position, and even engine height.
Crazy.

I "think" you could move around engine height on the Mille SP too.

On Saturday, I was driving past a local Aprilia dealer and saw the big truck and a few models under a canopy. They were having a big to-do, BBQ and all.
So, I pulled in the lot and proceded directly to the bikes on display. No RSV4. Not happy, I was.
But, I talked to the main 'Priller USA dude (not a dealership tard) and he said that they would be there all weekend, and when the RSV4 came in on a different truck Monday, he would be loading it up with the rest of the bikes and heading over to the track.
Unfortunately, he didn't think it would be a Factory, but wasn't sure as there weren't any RSV4s in the U.S. at this point and they were getting whatever it was Italy was sending.
So yeah, I'll be at the Aprilia truck Friday morning to get a peek.

Vaporware and hype. Might as well hold your breadth for Honda to import a 400cc CBR into the US

Vaporware and hype most definitely belong in the same sentence as Honda, but unlike Honda, Aprilia has balls. At least the RSV4 exists, and Aprilia seem fairly intent on making it a kick ass machine.
Honda has the ability (at least we think they do, they haven't done anything to inspire in recent years) to build a killer track weapon, but they lack even the slightest hint of any sack to do so. I was solidly on the Honda bandwagon for years, but unless they build a track-focused 1000cc V4 with no compromises, I will never again buy one of their motorcycle products - well, except a Goldwing. They are a candy-assed road motorcycle making group of hippy sissies with no fire at all. The automobile division is even worse.
Honda and vaporware hype have gone hand in hand in the sportbike world for nearly a decade now. Sure, the 600 is a great bike, but everything else is either rumor or falls flat on its fairyassed face.
Even if Honda brought a 400cc CBR to the states, it would be such a total pile of slow and lame crap that a Ninja 250 would run circles around it, then point and laugh.
Funny it takes an Italian company with no four stroke V4 history to make a bike and engine that Honda has all sorts of history with, capability to make, but claims nobody will buy. Aprilia may have teething issues for a while, but at least they are making them and going for the win.
Screw Honda and the hippy-assed hybrid they rode in on.

You're really upset with Pete not making it this weekend, aren't you?

Not overly terrible like the ZX10, and as you know I was really keen on the new 1000RR when it was released. But, as typical Honda of late, it turned out to be mid-pack at best when it came to racing. Well alright, one or two series it was best runner up, but nobody can make the dog be a consistent pointy end bike.
Great streetbike, though. Typical Honda. Just like in F1, total shit on a track.
I want to like Honda again, I still own a Honda ATV and 50. But Honda would have to grow a set - hell, even one ball and a half sack would be nice. Oh, and HRC would have to somehow turn into a group of decent humans. I mean, they aren't quite down to democrat level, but they're nearly there.
