What are we using as the "over/under" line?

I hear close to current RSVR pricing which is around the $18k mark. My totally uneducated guess is around $20k.

Okay, $20k is the line. I'm gonna guess its MSRP for the standard edition is gonna be over that. And I base this on absolutely nothing as well. LOL.

I should clarify that the current RSVR Factory is listed at $18k. The current base RSV 1000 R is priced at $14k.

My brother called an Aprilia stealership in valencia, Spain. They only have the price for the factory version for 20,000 Euros.

That is certainly a sexy bike! Too bad I've never seen an Aprilia dealership.

Great article about the bike on Crash.net:
Aprilia presents the RSV4. | WSBK News | Crash.Net
"The superbly lightweight tail slopes upwards to emphasise the dynamic nature of the Aprilia RSV4. Even when stationary, the bike simply exudes a desire for speed and competition."
This bit reminds me of the Celica commercials of a few years ago.

I actually don't mind the look of the "ugly" exhaust. I think the track version with the aftermarket can does look better but I'd take either one. From a pure visual appeal standpoint I still like the 848/1098. I do really like the idea of a V4 though. It'll be interesting to see how the performance stacks up to the current I4's.
With Yamaha bringing the "big bang" and Aprilla bringing a V4 and the introduction of the "1198" it will be interesting to see what other manufacturer's start offering.
...dude you ride an offroad bike with slicks, 1/2 the weight of a GS, double the suspension, with a browning 50 cal going off 32" from your skull as a daily freaking driver - I'd expect anything except a nitro dragbike to be bland by comparison - SSG

Indeed. I'm looking forward to WSBK next year!

What's that wire and little black box on the right-hand side of the swinging arm?

Electronics. They're ruining swingarms

Since those items were done by Honda several design cycles ago, I think your question is answered simply by looking at what Honda is currently working on today...
Much to the chagrin of the machotisti, I think it will be in the area of energy management...ala TC and ABS...

Yup. My RSVR counts sprocket revolutions for speed sensing... I would venture this is the same system. Although, I have to admit mine looks a lot tidier than that thing.

My earlier smart-ass comments aside, my Futura has a speed sensor, as well. The wire runs along the brake line and tucks in nicely at the hub in the swingarm. It's not even noticeable.
Looking at the photos, though, the visible box and wiring is only on the race version.

They've been great, it's the dirt bike engines that have shown Aprilia is Italian.

That's the sensor for the speedometer?
Lazy, sloppy design.

Yeah, I am really puzzled by this. Everywhere else on the bike things look tucked in right, routed good, but then there is this hideous box on the swingarm with a cord strung along.
It vexes me.

Hmmm....that is a puzzle. Is it a dip box for tire diameter...
Seems like a really odd location...

That's why I think it might be a dip box...you'd think they'd do that with a tether, but who knows...

Back Amongst Friends......
ehh..It's a looker, no doubt...don't really understand the move to the V4 design..I think prefer "big bang" of the new R1...in any case, WSBK in '09 is gonna be a white-knuckle, knock-down, drag-out, slobber-knocker! and I can't wait...

Well - no solid pricing from the US Dealer meeting. Aprilia brass say that it will be priced competitively with the 1098 but nothing any more specific.
Arrival on US shores - Q4 2009. Will probably be sold as a 2010 model. Word is out that the Tuono will be replaced by a V4 Tuono in 2010, as well. No word on RST revival.

Now that is interesting information. May be a more viable replacement for my '94 VFR, keeping some sportiness, than the options from Honda.
Thanks for the update.
