Can't say that I can see any advantage to that particular style in that particular section of the track. It looks like showboating to me . . .

Yeah, and with all those bystanders so close to the side of the track makes it even less smart.

A couple of things come to mind... first I agree with everything said above. Certainly not the fastest way to get through that section, those spectators were definitely in harms way, and finally... maybe I'm a wuss but I don't think I'd want to be anywhere near that group when they all went busting through that corner together.
